WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to a brand new school year! My name is Ms. Shalhout and I am excited to be your child’s teacher.

Students went home today with a planner and blue homework folder. Please look inside of the homework folder for important notes. I sent home a Welcome Back letter explaining my class procedures as well as the third grade supply list. Please be sure students have all the supplies necessary by Wednesday. We will label everything together Thursday. Please do not label anything beforehand.

A lunch calendar was also sent home. Please read over the lunch calendar since we have more exciting new options to choose from this year. There are 3 choices this year. Please be sure your child knows which choice to choose before coming to school to save time and confusion!

Lansing Field Trip this Wednesday, April 17th!

LANSING, MICHIGAN FIELD TRIP

Dear Parents,

We are taking our field trip to our state capital of Lansing, Michigan on Wednesday, April 17th from 8:00-4:15. We will be taking a tour of the Michigan State Capitol building and Michigan Historical Museum!

All students and chaperones must be at school between 7:30-7:40. We will be leaving before school at 8:00 am to make it on time. We will be meeting in the media center. If students miss the bus, they need to check into the office and they will be placed in another classroom at school.

Please be back at Geer Park no later than 4:00 to pick up your child when we return. We should be back between 3:45-4:15. If we are running early or late, please be available to pick up your child or wait patiently for them. If you have REMIND, we will text you when we leave Lansing.

Students and chaperones MUST PACK A DISPOSABLE LUNCH for this trip. Both the Capitol and the Museum have a storage bin to keep our lunches. Please pack the lunches in disposable lunch bags and do not bring reusable water bottles. It is more convenient to throw/recycle all the trash once we are done. Please label the lunch bag with your full name before coming to school. Students may bring money, but it is not necessary,to purchase any snacks if they are available or gifts from the gift shop if time permits.

Students may bring a MINI travel backpack, but it is not encouraged. They will have to walk around with it on their backs the entire time.

Students will not be allowed to bring electronics on the bus.  We cannot ensure that these items will be secure and they are not allowed on the tours.  You may bring a good book or card games to pass the time but you will have to leave it on the bus! Therefore, keep your school backpacks at home.

Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. We will be walking from the Capitol to the museum. We would also like you to wear a Geer Park shirt or a blue shirt.

Thank you!
