Our class is going to the Dearborn Fire Safety House on Monday, September 30. Permission slips went home last week. We will be going in the afternoon. The trip is only about 1-2 hours and I can take along 1-2 chaperones.
In order to chaperone for any field trip, you MUST have an I-chat form filled out with the office in advance. If you filled one out in previous years, it still may be good. Please check with the office if you have any questions about it. I would be sure to fill one out now if you believe you will want to chaperone any field trip this year.
Here is what we are learning over the next few weeks in our class!
Math-We are learning how to fluently multiply and divide and solve story problems involving multiplication and division in Module 1. Students should know how to draw equal groups, an array, tape diagram, and number bonds to show their work.
Science-We will begin our Force and Motion Unit this week. Students will learn all about friction, pushes and pulls, speed, and gravity.
Social Studies-Third grade is all about MICHIGAN! I love teaching all about our state. We began our first unit which is the Geography of Michigan. Students should be able to describe where Michigan is using cardinal directions (north of Ohio, south of Canada, etc). We will soon begin to learn the names and locations of all 5 Great Lakes, Michigan’s vegetation, natural and human characteristics.
ELA-I am piloting a new ELA program this year called ReadyGen. We are reading great texts and the students get to have their own copy as we read and analyze the text together! We will begin reading a chapter book called The Case of The Gasping Garbage and focus on character traits, their actions, and motivations.
