Weekly Updates

Good Morning,

Hope you enjoyed the warmer weather with your families.  Last Friday was the last NWEA test for Midyear.  Students worked very hard to improve their reading, math, language, and science scores. However, some students didn’t get to their goals or maybe went down a few points in different subjects.  This is very normal especially if they started very high.  I had a couple of students who were very sad about it. Myself and other resource teachers tried to comfort them by explaining that the score doesn’t identify them as a person, rather it is just a number and numbers can and will improve.  Also, we assured them that they are very smart and capable of being the best as long as they are trying their best every day.   I am very proud of all of the students.   Thanks you for your hard work and support.

This week in a glace:

Spelling: list #13-change v to I and add es/ed

spelling pattern.

Reading: 20-30 minutes of daily reading is highly recommended. Record on January logs. (Mobymax reading can be used towards the 30 minutes reading)

Fluency: a new fluency will be sent home today. Please have your child read the passage four times a week. Each time should include three attempts. Have them answer the questions in a complete sentence and underline their evidence in the text.
Story of the Week: a new prompt will be sent home today. We love how the students are expressing themselves through this free write.
Math:
We are finishing up unit 5 which includes finding the missing number in a multiplication/division equation. For example, 9×7=____ and  ____divided by 10=____
Please have your child practice the multiplication tables daily. multiplication.com, frontrowed.com, mathmagician.com are some of the many sites to practice multiplication and division.
