Greetings

M-Step Schedule

M-Step testing starts this week (Tuesday 5/9) and ends on 5/18.  We will have English Language Arts first (Tuesday and Wednesday). We will have Math Thursday. Also, will continue with math on the following week of 5/16-18.   All tests will be taken on the Chrome books. We practiced in class and you may continue practicing the  M-Step at home by going to the DPS website.

Please have your child have a good night sleep and to get a healthy snack (you may send an extra snack if you would like-some students will get hungrier than the usual during testing).  We will take as many breaks as needed to refresh and stretch.  Thanks for your help and encouragement to your child during testing time.  Good luck to all students!

Homework: During the M-Step testing window, students will not receive daily homework worksheets (math and reading), however, we will still have fluency, spelling, story of the week, LA, and math reviews.

Field Trip: We still need chaperons for the zoo field trip.  Please stop by the office to sign up. It takes 10 days to be approved for field trips.

 Spelling:  List #24 skill – Prefixes /re/ & /pre/

Spelling Test: Friday

Reading:20-30 minutes: Mobymax,  Myon, M-Step (ilearn) reading can be used towards the 30 minutes of reading .

~Reading: Main idea and details

 Language Arts Quiz: Monday #29 (students take the weekly language review on Friday to study).  The Weekly LA review is their study guide for the Monday quiz.

 

Writing: Compare and contrast information between texts and across subject areas. Students will need to: Recognize (similarities and differences of plot across literary works) ,describe (similarities and differences of plot across literary works) , compare (information between texts and across subject areas) ,contrast (information between texts and across subject areas)

 

Fluency: Due Monday
Story of the Week: a new prompt will be sent home today. We love how the students are expressing themselves through this free write.

Math:
Unit 8-We are focusing on equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, adding/ subtracting fractions et.  Students may practice skills daily for a few minutes on the M-Step practice on ilearn DPS website, Frontrow, and Mobymax.

Math Review Quiz: # 28 Friday(students will take week #28 home Thursday to study)
