Weekly Update

Greeting,

Hope you and your families are staying warm in this super cold weather.

The week before the break tends to be a little busy, so here is a little preview of this week’s learning objectives. and upcoming events. 🙂

Reading: we are going to focus on compare and contrast using non-fiction texts.

Compare and Contrast Video      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyYzXlTNt4E

Writing: Informational writing will compare and contrast two animals.

Spelling: List #11: Double Consonants.

We will have the spelling test on Thursday instead the usual time- Friday.

Math: We are still working on unit 4.  A study guide will be coming home this week.  We will have a test after the break.  In addition, please have students practice the following tables: 2,3,4, and 5. During the break, please have students tables up to #12.

NWEA: After the break, students will be taking the NWEA reading, language, math, and science tests.  We do practice in class, however it will be very helpful that your child practices daily on Mobymax to review math and reading skills. These test taking skills will be helpful during the up coming WIDA and M-Step assessments too.

Winter Break Assignments:

Reading Logs/Winter Break Reading Assignment: I will be sending the January reading logs home.  Also, I will be asking students to spend at least 15 minutes daily reading and answering questions from Mobymax and to log it in their January logs. Please feel free to have your son/daughter to read from books too.

Math Winter Assignment: Also, I am assigning fifteen minutes for math practice on Mobymax and Frontrow.

Please help your to practice reading and  math on the computer.  If you don’t have an access to a computer, please let me know to make you some copies of math and reading.

Wednesday: Late Start December 21st.

Holiday Concert: Friday 9:00-10:00.  All parents are invited to attend.  We hope to see you there and Happy Holidays to all and have a Wonderful New Year!

Thanks for your help and support!  Have a great week.
