Hello families,
Spring has sprung! This week in media, 1st graders will be enjoying the story Ice Boy, about an ice cube who wants more out of life and bravely ventures off. We will focus on how his character changes in throughout the story before students draw and write about how they have changed this year.
April is poetry month. 2nd graders will be exploring acrostic poetry the next few media sessions before creating their own.
3rd graders will review digital citizenship skills for the next few sessions before taking their post test in a few weeks. Students will compare the pre/post test scores to evaluate their growth.
Have a wonderful week,

Hello families,
Our March weather continues to behave like a lion. Though the snowflakes look beautiful, I’ll be happy when I can finally put away the snow shovel.
This week in Media, students will continue to research information on animals and begin to transfer their notes onto Google slides. Next week, our focus will be to add pictures and learn how to format slides.
Have a wonderful week!
Your partner in your child’s education,

Hello families,
We have been enjoying stories on animals and pets the last few weeks. Our focus is using online databases in Michigan Electronic Library (MEL) to collect information and share it in googles slides.
1st grade is in the process of researching the best pet for them and then creating a slide show using their notes. 2nd grade is in the process of reaching the best pet for their household and writing three reasons and examples to support their opinion while notetaking. They will then use this information to create a persuasive slideshow. 3rd graders will be researching an endangered animal and sharing what their learned in a slideshow as well.
Have a wonderful week!
Hello, families!
1st graders will be focusing the next few weeks on fact and opinion. After enjoying I Wanna New Room, we will be discussing examples of both found in the story.
2nd graders will sample books which have received Caldecott Awards, selecting a few titles that they may want to check out from the library at a later date.
3rd graders will continue to make predictions for The Legend of Spud Murphy. Characters Marty and Will are changing their tune about the library.
Have a wonderful week! Spring is in the air! 🙂
Hello, families,
First graders last week focused on plot- what happens in a story. This week, we are narrowing in on problem/solution with Rosie Revere, Engineer. Students will then use Kami to draw a robot that can solve a problem.
Second graders will practice cause/effect by Back of the Bus, a story that retells Rosa Park’s historic act of defiance through the eyes of a child.
Third graders will share their predictions and continue to hear the tale of Legend of Spud Murphy chapters 2 and 3.
The Legend of Spud Murphy Chapter 3
