It was a pleasure to work with you children this year. Please keep the love of learning going by visiting the Dearborn Libraries and MEL.org. See you in August! 🙂
Mother nature is putting on a beautiful display of weather for us. This week, first graders will learn how popsicles were invented from The Boy Who Invented the Popsicle. They will then type a response to a problem they would like to solve.
Second graders will begin their media biography project, with the focus on transferring notes and adding supporting pictures to Google Slide.
Third graders will continue to learn about places around the state of Michigan and The United States. The final product from their research will be a travel brochure they can share with you.
This week, first grade will review what facts and opinions are after enjoying the story Pop! The Invention of Bubble Gum. How popsicles were invented will be explored next. Second grade will continue to take notes on a person they chose to complete a biography multimedia presentation. Third graders will explore places in Michigan and the United States in which they can take a vacation to. Our goal is to have a printed brochure that your child can share with you. Have a wonderful week.
We are using the following stories in our lessons this week to strengthen the concept of being green. This ties into McCollough-Unis School Clean Up Party the afternoon of Wednesday, May 17 in which Mayor Abdullah Hammoud will be a guest.
We will continue to use Pebble Go to research and learn about animals, people, and places. 1st grade will be learning about the life cycle of frogs, 2nd grade will be reading biographies, and 3rd grade will begin to study places in Michigan and the United States. Have a wonderful week.
