Here is the snack schedule signup.  If you have not signed up to bring snacks and you are willing too, please see me and I will add your name to our list.  Thank you everyone for sharing and offering to supply the snacks.

Hello Everyone,

This week we have Open House on Thursday September 13, 2018  6:00 – 7:30 PM.  Hope to be able to see everyone on this fun night.

This Friday September 14, 2018 we have a HALF DAY OF SCHOOL dismissal is at 11:45 AM.  Please bring a snack to school on this day.  The children will not be going to lunch.

The School and Pride school t shirt order forms went home yesterday.  If you plan on ordering a shirt please return the envelope and money by Friday September 14, 2018.

The Scholastic book fair is happening now.  Yesterday we went to the book fair and made a wish list.  If you would like to purchase a book you can send the money to school in an envelope or attend the book fair after school and also it will be open on OPEN HOUSE night.

We are continuing working learning our names and doing many activities with our names.

Also, we celebrated our tenth day of school today with a number party.  We are practicing counting and recognizing numbers 1 -10.

Please continue to remind your child to follow the Lindbergh way at school in following directions and making the right choice and listening the first time.

Have a good week.

HELLO!

Hello Everyone!

Well we have survived the first week and the heat!  Just a couple of thoughts and reminders…  First we have 16 students in our class.  13 Boys and 3 Girls.

Please if you have not purchased a one inch white binder ( ok if a different color) for their Leadership binder, please do so as soon as possible.  We will start creating the binders soon.

Also, if you have not provided a change of clothing for possible accidents while at school for their locker, please place a change of clothing in a bag with your child’s name.

I am looking for two more parents to be Homeroom Parents for our classroom.  Mrs. Cameron ( Hazel’s Mother) volunteered already.  If you would be interested in helping me and Hazel’s mother please contact me.

Today an All About Me paper was sent home in your child’s folder. Please complete as much as possible and send back in the school folder.  There are two sides.  This information will allow for me to better understand and get to know each child in my classroom.

Please remember that our snack time is in the afternoon.  Remind your child where you have packed their snack and please do not put it in their lunch box.  I recommend having their snack in a separate bag so that they know what is lunch and what is snack.  Also, no juice for snack and make the snack one that is small and easy to eat.

Today a Behavior Calendar was sent home in their red folder. Please look at the calendar each day to see how your child was at school.  Keep the calendar in the folder and return to school each day.  Green means they were good.  Yellow they had a warning or a little problem that they could not fix throughout the day, (many warnings) Orange means we had a major problem where I had to contact you ( parent/guardian) about the situation. Red, MAJOR problem where we have to complete a think sheet and Mrs. Tiba our principal is involved.

I have decided to try to have a small snack in the morning while I am reading a story or we are watching a story online.  Each child will have the same small simple snack.  I will either use small dixie cups or silicone cupcake containers.  This snack is just something small to keep us stable to lunch time.  I am going to create a sign up sheet available on Open House night for each child to bring in a snack for the month.  Do to my lack of space and I do not want all the snacks brought in at the same time ( rodents and becoming stale).  I have never done this so please be patient with me as we try this out.  More information to come.

This week we have been working on procedures and getting to know each other and making friends.  We will be doing a lot of activities with our names and the letters in our names.  Please remind your child often that we need to try our best at school and to listen and follow directions the first time.  Friday’s will be our reward/success party day.

Have a good week.

Miss Schropp

HELLO!

Welcome to Young Five’s…. Lindbergh Elementary School.  Miss Schropp Room 112.

Just a reminder that this week of school is a ‘Soft Start” where we will be having dismissal at 11:45 AM.  In the PM we will be doing some testing with your child.  If you have not signed up for a testing time please see me as soon as possible.

There is NO School on Friday August 31, 2018 and Monday September 3, 2018.  School will resume on Tuesday September 4, 2018.  This will be the start to a full day of school.

We will be having snack in the PM due to an early lunch at 11:06 -11:44 AM.  Please remember to pack a healthy small snack.  No juice please in the classroom.  The children may have a water bottle to have with lunch and their snack.  I prefer that the snack be placed in a separate bag from their lunch bag.  It can be another lunch bag, small tote, or even a brown paper bag.  This makes it easier for your child to know and myself what is for snack.  We will be leaving our snack in our backpacks.

Our RED Take Home Folders went home yesterday with a emergency card.  Please complete any missing information and make any necessary changes and return to school by Thursday August 30, 2018.  Please return the folder empty of unnecessary papers each day to school.

I hopefully will be sending home a back to school letter from me tomorrow and a student information page in their folder.  Please read it carefully and if you have any questions please see me and hopefully I can answer them! 🙂  Also, please complete the questions about your child so I can get to know them and their strengths and needs.

I am excited for a new year of Young Five Friends and ready to watch them grow throughout the year.  Let’s make this a FUN YEAR!!!

Miss Schropp

HELLO!!!

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing Holiday weekend.  It always amazes me how fast the weekend goes by.

This week we will be continuing testing all of our final skills.  I also will be testing their reading level.  This information will be passed onto their Kindergarten teacher.

Thursday May 31, 2018 we will be helping to plant flowers in front of school.  Our time is 10:00 AM.  With weather permitting.

Yesterday, the permission slip for our field trip to the Detroit Zoo was sent home.  Our trip is Wednesday June 6, 2018.  The cost is $6.00 for the child and $7.00 for the adult.  All parents are welcome to come on this day and welcome to ride the bus with us.  Please no siblings are allowed to attend the trip.

Our Doughnuts for Dads is on Thursday June 7, 2018 at 9:00 AM.  The day was switched because we thought there are too many parents and children with the two Young Five rooms and two Kindergarten Classrooms.  I hope that this change has not made things difficult.

On Friday the students will be having a substitute teacher.  I hope all will be fine but a gentle reminder that we need to show our guest teacher how good we are and how we are Leaders at school.

Our new word this week is “up” and new book is “What is it?”  Please continue to practice the word cards and books.  Helping with these skills will really show the Kindergarten teachers how great we are with all of our learning.

Thank you to Mrs. Harajly ( Robbie H. Mother) for bringing us popsicles yesterday.  What a nice cool treat for us to enjoy on this HOT day!  Also, thank you to Papa Doug for bringing us a cooler of water and for Max’s Mother in Mrs. Ruselink for bringing us water too!

Have a nice week.

HELLO!!

First, I would like to thank everyone for making our Muffin’s for Mom’s a huge success and a fun morning.  I hope all the Mother’s enjoyed their special morning.  Also, thank you so much for being so kind to me last week during Teacher Appreciation Week.  All the surprises during the week made me feel so special.  I truly appreciate you all.  Also, for those celebrating Ramadan… I wish you and your family Ramadan Kareem!  May it be a joyous and peaceful month of fasting.

Wednesday May 16, 2018 is LATE START.  Arrival 9:35 AM

Our city of Dearborn Cleanup Parade is Thursday May 17, 2018 at 1:30 PM.  All are welcome to join us on this day.  We will be making a headband to wear but if you would like to make a small sign with your child to carry during the parade you are more than welcome to do so.

Our last Popcorn Friday is Friday May 18, 2018.  remember 4 bag limit 25 cents each.

The boxtop collection due date is Friday May 18, 2018.

The Scholastic Bookfair is this week.  The wish lists were sent home on Monday.  If you choose to purchase a book please send the money in or visit the fair yourself.  It is located in the library.

This week I hopefully will be starting our final testing.  Also, we will be learning the sight word “this” and learning about the letter O, Ozzie the Octopus.  This letter is a helping friend who helps us to make short O words.  We are still practicing writing our numbers and making our number books.  In Science we are discussing plants and the environment.  Hopefully soon we will be planting seeds and watching them grow.  Please continue to express the importance of listening and following directions to your child.  Some of our behavior is not being a Leader and maybe we need just a little reminder!!!

Have a nice week!!!

HELLO!!

Hello Everyone!

This is an exciting week where we will be honoring all our Mother’s on a special day.  Muffin’s for Mom’s is on Thursday May 10, 2018 at 9:00 AM.  Our celebration will last about an hour.  We have been busy and working very hard in creating many fun things for you.

Thank you to Mrs. Michalkiewicz ( Lilly’s Mother) on decorating our classroom door for Teacher Appreciation week.  It is so cute.  I hope you all (Mother’s) can see it on Thursday morning and any Father’s who would like to see it, Welcome!  I was so surprised when I saw that she added lights!!!  Thank you very much, it makes me feel special, especially seeing all their photos on the poster.  So Monday morning was even more special when I arrived to see the door and also the yummy coffee that Papa Doug and Harper had waiting for me!  What a way to start the week! SMILE

POPCORN FRIDAY has been cancelled this week and moved to FRIDAY MAY 18, 2018!!!  This will be the last Popcorn Friday for the year.

Remember that Friday is Show and Tell day!  Also, Papa Doug will be doing an activity with us.

This week we will be working on our Mother’s Day crafts.  Also, we are learning the new alphafriend Mr. X- Ray, the letter and sound Xx.  Also, we will be learning the word “said”.  Today we learned the book ” I Paint at School”, it was sent home in their reading bag.  In science we will be continuing learning about the Earth and plants.

I know that we are near the end of the school year, but please continue to remind your children the manners and behavior skills that we have been learning all year.  Some not so good behavior has been noticed and I just want to remind our friends the kindness that we should be sharing with others.

Have a good week.
