Hello Everyone!  HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!!!

MARCH SNACK – JACK FILIP

Tonight Wednesday March 20, 2019 is the Kindergarten roundup for the 2019- 2020 School Year.  It is from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.  If you will be returning to Lindbergh for Kindergarten next year you are welcome to attend but it is not necessary.  Please advertise for anyone who wishes to send their child to Young Fives next year.  We need at least 12 to 14 students registered to allow for the Young Five program to continue at Lindbergh for next year school year.  So we need your help in advertising for this valuable program.  All Dearborn students are welcome to come to Lindbergh who have a birthdate that falls between June 15 and December 1 and wish to enroll their child in the Young Five Classroom.  If anyone should have any questions or would like to come and observe the classroom, please share my email address with them. Also, they can look at the Lindbergh School blog for enrollment information. Schropk@dearbornschools.org  Thank you for all your help.

Friday March 22, 2019 is the Leader In Me Lindbergh Leadership Day!  Please remember if you wish to attend this program you have to be registered online for the event.  Also, if your child has a Lindbergh tshirt they are encouraged to wear it or the color RED.

Friday March 22, 2019 is the Lindbergh Sock Hop.  It is from 6 – 8 PM.  A fun night to dress up and enjoy friendship.  Please see Lindbergh PTA blog for more information.

This week we are learning about the letter and sound Ll Larry the Lion.  The word “on” was introduced with the book “bedtime”.  I will begin assessing their reading skills soon and also be sending home a March progress report.  I encourage you to practice their word cards, books, and number counting each night.  We have been practicing making words with the helping friend Andy the Apple (short a).  We have been listening to the sounds to write words and we are doing a pretty good job too.  Next week we will beginning to work on the letter i and making some more new words.

We are still working on our math number books and beginning to add numbers together.

In Leader in Me we have been discussing how to experience WIN WIN with our friends and the actions we choose.

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be guest readers in our classroom.  It is always nice to listen to others read to us.  If you are still interested in being a Guest Reader, please contact me so we can figure out a date and time that will work best.

Have a Good week!

NEWS FROM MR. HARVEY PE

FYI….

Greeting Flyers Family,

I would like to update you regarding our Kids Heart Challenge that ended on March 1st.   With your support we have raised $10,850 for the American Heart Association this year. Amazing work!

Even though our donation window is closed for this school year, we still have one more week to sign up online and take the challenge for a stronger and healthier life.  I am encouraging all of our students to “Take the Challenge”, choose water over sugary drinks, exercise for 60 minutes daily or do a kind deed daily.  It is free to sign up, and students will receive a glow in the dark wristband for their dedication to a healthy lifestyle.  If we can get 50% of our student population here at Lindbergh to Take the Challenge, we will be able to receive an additional $500 to purchase new PE equipment for the students to enjoy!  We are only 5 students away!  The deadline to register and/or raise donations for the American Heart Association is Friday, March 8th.  Let’s all get healthier together!

Jump online, take the Challenge and be a Heart Hero!

This week we have a busy week but exciting too!  Thursday February 14, 2019 is Valentine’s Day.  It is also a Half Day of School with dismissal at 11:45.  Please remember that the children do not have lunch at school but will have a snack.

Mid- Winter break with No School on Friday February 15, 2019 and Monday February 18, 2019.  We will return to school with a normal day on Tuesday February 19, 2019.

We will be having a small Friendship Party on Thursday February 14, 2019.  It will be a busy day with it being a half day and also having gym class.  The children can bring valentine’s for their friends.  Please remember we have 16 children in our class.  The school does not want us to have any parent volunteers on this day.  Mason’s Grandmother and Nicolaos Costos Mother have donated some supplies for crafts.  If anyone else would like to bring a small treat for us to share, some juice, and also 16 white bags (medium size with handles to decorate for their treats and cards) we would be greatly appreciate it.  Please let me know if you can help, so I know if I need to purchase the items.  I have also planned for other activities for us to do on this day and this week.  I hope it will be a fun day of sharing and having fun with our friends.

Today in their folder I sent home many items.  First the tshirt order form was sent home today.  We were not here on Friday for me to send home.  The order was due today, so please if you are planning on ordering please do so ASAP.

Also, a yellow mini progress report was sent home today.  Please review and if you have any questions please ask.  We are doing a GREAT job but there are some areas for some to give a little more practice.

Also, if you have not turned in your yellow report card envelope please do so ASAP.  I have 4 missing envelopes.

This week we are finishing learning about the letter Vv.  We are meeting Callie Cat and the letter and sound Cc.  We will be learning ‘an” words this week. We are becoming such great readers.  Keep up the practice in reading their book bags and word cards.

In Math we are still working with weight and measurement and practicing our numbers in recognizing, counting and writing them.

Our 100th day of School Party will be Tuesday or Wednesday after our break.  More details to come.  I am still trying to figure out and plan our schedule.  We are on day 95 today and excited to count down with our badges each day.  We will be making a project, reading a 100 day story, counting 100 things to eat in a trail mix, and counting to 100 with a big 100 board and 100 day glasses.

Have a Great week everyone, and Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!

Keep practicing their book bags and word cards.  The word and was introduced today nd a new book went home in their book bags.

We made snowman and practiced writing about our Snowman.  It was fun watching them begin to write and sounding out words.

We have been busy testing with Reading and Math skills.  A progress report hopefully will be sent home this week.  The report will show some strengths and some areas to give a little extra practice.
