Hello Everyone… I hope you all enjoyed our day off from school in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We have normal schedules for the rest of the week. Today we started the third card marking period. Report cards will be sent home soon. We are also half way done with the school year. Can you believe it!!
We are continuing with the NWEA test this week ( Math) and also hopefully finishing the DRA Reading level test. When all the testing is complete, I will be sending home a progress report to inform you of the scores and the areas of success and areas of needed extra help.
Friday January 24, 2020 is a POPCORN FRIDAY DAY! Remember there is a limit to 4 bags and each bag is 25 cents.
Mr. Harvey’s Gym Heart program is up and running. We are in a race to earn a free gym period. Currently we have 9 people signed up in our class. We are in second place. All you need to do is sign up. If you choose to donate money you can but is not necessary. We need to have the most students in our class to earn the free gym period. Please let’s all try to be healthier and earn a free gym. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me or Mr. Harvey ( refer to his blog that I reposted last week). I signed up today… very easy to do!!!
We will be starting Module 4 tomorrow. I will be sending home Module 4-6 Learn Book for you to keep and do at home. We will be also finishing Module 3 test this week.
This week we will be starting our weekly spelling tests. I will be sending home the words to study and work on tomorrow ( Wednesday) . Each Friday we will take a test with me. The children will write the word they hear. We will be doing activities in the class to help learn these words. Please practice these words each night. There will be ten words on the test. There are 3 sight words, 3 hot words, 2 cold words, and 2 challenge words. The cold words are the words that they will not know ahead of time, but will follow the same word pattern.
sight words: to, the, and
Hot words: cat, pat, rat
challenge words: chat, splat
A reading log will be sent home tomorrow in their reading bag. Please keep this log in their book bags. Each night please record the book read and sign.

ELA: Sight word “big” Rhyming words- producing them. digraphs with “CH” informational stories.
Writing: Informational story- snowflakes
Math- Module 3 unit assessment. Module 4 lessons 1, 2, 3

Leader in ME- Habit 5 Seek first to understand then to be understood
