HELLO!!

Hello Everyone,

Can you believe it is October already!!!  Hard to believe for me!

Just a few reminders….

Today I sent home the Field Trip paper for our trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard on Wednesday October 18, 2017.  This day is also a Late Start Day.  If your child will be attending, please return the permission slip and money.  Also, if you would like to be a chaperone on the trip please make sure you have the necessary paper work done in the office.  This takes time for clearance so please if you have not done so, do it so as soon as possible.

Also, on Friday October 6, 2017 is NO SCHOOL for Young Five and Kindergarten only.  The teachers have a meeting at another school.

NO SHOW AND TELL THIS WEEK BECAUSE OF NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY! 🙁

On Wednesday October 4, 2017 is the PBIS behavior success party for the whole school.  We will be participating in this party.  Your child has to be in good behavior in order to attend.

Each week on Thursday or Friday the Young Five classrooms will be having their own behavior program.  Each week the children who have earned a green for behavior each day of the week will be able to attend our Good Behavior Party.  If your child is having difficulties in behaving and following directions then they will be sitting with Mr. Mayhew our School social worker and discussing how to become a good listener.  So please encourage your child to listen the first time and also show respect to each other.

Mrs. Michalkiewicz ( Lilly’s Mother) has graciously volunteered to be our Young Five Parent Room Volunteer.  She will be contacting everyone soon for help in the upcoming events.

This week we be starting to talk about apples and doing many different activities about apples.  Also, we will be making our first book for our reading boxes at school.  We have been practicing using scissors and cutting on a straight line.  We are making our very own abc flashcards for our book boxes. We will be continuing working on a letter a day and practicing writing each letter.  In Math we are practicing counting and recognizing the numbers and putting them in number order.  We are still practicing writing our names and recognizing the letters in our name.  Most importantly learning social skills, being a good friend, and knowing when to follow directions.

Have a Good Week!

HELLO!

I would like to thank all the families who attended our Open House on Thursday.   It was nice to be able to meet everyone and see the children excited to show you all around our room and school.

A special thank you to Lilly Michalkiewicz and Olivia Dunleavy’s families who purchased books for our classroom library from the Scholastic bookfair.  The students are very excited to have new books in our library and so am I!!!!! 🙂

On Monday September 18, 2017 we will be going to the library for the first time.  the students are able to check out one book.  We will be keeping our books from the library in our book boxes in our classroom and they will not be going home.

This week the students will be having a hearing exam done by Wayne County during the school day.  If there are any concerns the hearing technician will contact you.

Also, on Friday September 22, 2017 there is NO SCHOOL only for Young Fives and Kindergarten.  The teachers will be attending a Professional Development Meeting with other Kindergarten and Young Five teachers.

Please remember that we go to gym on Tuesday and Thursday and to wear gym shoes on that day. Music on Monday and Wednesday and Art on Tuesday and Media on Friday.

Thank you to all who helped in putting snack in a separate bag then from their lunch bags.  This has been a BIG help!

This week we will be celebrating our tenth day of school with a number party.  Also, we will be working on writing and recognizing our first and last names with different activities.  We will also be practicing our social skills.  Please remind the students about being well behaved and listening at school.  If they hear it from you and also hear it from me at school it will start to click for them.  Also, our prize box comes out on Fridays and it also can be on other days too.  Remind them that we have to earn to go there with good listening skills.

All for now and if I have missed anything I will be sure to write soon!  Have a nice week!

Miss Schropp

HELLO!

Hello Everyone,

Just a reminder that Thursday September 14, 2017 is our school OPEN HOUSE from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.  Looking forward in seeing everyone on this exciting night!

I need your help!!! On our first day of school two bags of school supplies were left on the brown carpet in our classroom.  There were no names and I can’t figure out who they belong too.  If you remember bringing a Target or Walmart bag please let me know so I can put those supplies away in the correct locker.

Please reminder that your child needs a small healthy snack (one thing) and a healthy lunch each day.  If you are ordering lunch please remind your child of that so we can order the correct amount of food in the cafeteria.  Also, please remember only to have water at snack time.

One more request…. If you can help me by putting their lunch in a lunch box and keeping their snack separate in a different bag.  It is very hard, especially at the beginning of the year for the students to remember what is their lunch and what is their snack.  In the morning they put their lunch in a big bin in the classroom.  At 10:30 they have their snack.  At that time it is easier and very simple for me to say go to your locker and get your snack out of your backpack.  It can be in a ziploc bag, brown bag, a separate little bag, or just a snack in the backpack.  This way they do not have to go in the bin and then they do not have to figure out what is their snack and I do not have them eating part of their lunch.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!

Please remember that gym is on Tuesday and Thursday and we need to wear our gym shoes on these days.

This week we will be working on recognizing our name and practicing writing and saying the letters and learning about ourselves and our new friends.  Also, we will be practicing routines and procedures.

Parents, please return any necessary paper work as soon as possible.

Thank you… Miss Schropp

HELLO!!!

Hello Everyone!!

Well we just completed our first week of school for Young Fives.  Hip Hip Hooray!

Just a reminder that on Monday September 11, 2017 is our first full day of school.  Please remember to bring a healthy snack and lunch.  If possible please put snack in a separate bag from their lunch.  Or show them what their snack will be when putting their lunch together so they can find it in their lunch box.  If it is possible to put their snack in a separate inexpensive bag I would appreciate it.  It seems to be easier to keep their lunch in the lunch bin in our classroom and their snack to stay in their locker.  At snack time they can go to their locker to get their snack.  Also, please no juice or milk at snack time, ONLY WATER!  If they happen to spill the milk or juice it is hard to clean up the sticky mess.

Also, please remember to send the red homework folder daily.  Also, please bring backpacks each day.

On Thursday September 14, 2017 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM is Open House!  Looking forward to seeing everyone on this night.

There will be a Scholastic Book Fair in the library on that night.  On Thursday during the day the children will be able to view the book selections and make a wish list.  If you would look to purchase the books you can send in the money or visit the Book Fair on Open House night.

Today I sent home my welcome letter.  If you have any questions please see, call, or email me.

On Monday September 11, 2017 I will be sending home a behavior calendar in their red folder.  Each day their behavior will be recorded on this sheet.  Please keep this sheet in their folder.  This is a way to see how your child is behaving at school.  There are 4 colors.  Green (perfect), Yellow (warning), Orange (lots of warnings), and Red (office referral).  Let’s try our best to stay on green and remind the children how to listen and behave at school.  On Friday we will be going to my prize box for good behavior.

Our schedule of activities next week will be getting to know you, procedures and routines and social skills. Math games and working on recognizing and writing our name. Exploring our classroom.

Have a Good weekend!

HELLO!!!

Hello everyone,

I want to apologize for not sending home the eggs that we dyed on Thursday.  With the busy day and the excitement of all our activities I completely forgot and realized at 4:30 PM on Thursday.  I will send them home today in a plastic bag.  I cooked them on Wednesday night and they have been in the refrigerator here at school.  I believe that they are still good to eat.  So enjoy if you wish.  Again I am sorry for my forgetfulness!  This is a normal week of school this week. Hopefully it will be good weather and not a lot of rain.
