Weekly Update

The phonics letter of the week was A.
The handwriting letter of the week was F.
The number of the week was 4.
The theme of this week was apples.
The book of the week was Ten Apples on Top by Dr. Seuss.

We used this book to practice counting to ten.

And then we made our own version of Ten Apples on Top!

Each student got to pick how many apples they wanted on top

and then they put that many apples on top of their head! 😉

We learned about letter A and picked out items that begin with the letter A.

We learned about Johnny Appleseed and celebrated his birthday with an apple craft!

We kept our apple craft at school because we wanted the teachers and students in our class to see what a great job we did on them!
We thought that the classroom door was a great place to put it so it can match Ms. Bowdell’s apple!

We also had a pizza party this week!
Our speech-language therapist, Mrs. Gallery; our social worker, Mrs. Cartier; and our occupational therapist, Ms. Britt, threw us a pizza party!
They were nice enough to get pizzas from Hungry Howie’s and share.
During the pizza party, we practiced our social skills (requesting, speaking in full sentences, answering questions). We also got to make lemonade! Each student got to add their own ingredients and mix their own cup of lemonade.

We had a fun week at school! 🙂

Mariam just loves taking pictures with Ms. Bowdell!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom… We Had A Fun Week In Our Classroom!

Our first full week of school was a success!

The book of the week was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.

We used this book to learn about the letters of the alphabet. We said a poem using our name while putting the letters of our name on a coconut tree.

We decorated the first letter of our first name and hung them up above our cubbies at school.

We also learned the difference between letters and numbers using the book as well as the song “Chicka Chicka 123”.

Additionally, this week we chose our learning goals for the school year and learned about Constitution Day.

There are still a couple of students who have not returned their emergency contact forms!
Without these forms, I cannot post children of your children on the website. It is also very important to have these forms so we can assure that we have the right contact information in case of an emergency.
If you have not done so, please return this form as soon as possible!

***If your child requires a diaper,
PLEASE send in Tear-Away Pull-Ups ONLY!***

With the return of most of the emergency contact forms, I am now able to share pictures of most of the students of the class.
Here are the pictures that I have taken so far this school year:

Hello!

What a great first week we had!
This week has been full of lots of fun and lots of love.
We have had a great time getting to know each other and learning the rules of the classroom.

I would like to share pictures of the students and our fun times in the classroom but I cannot do so until I get consent. On the back of the emergency contact forms is an area where you can consent if pictures of your child may be posted. Once I get those back I will be able to share pictures on my blog. I am excited to share pictures of our first week with you!
Please remember to review the emergency care form and make revisions if needed.
Please return those to school in your child’s folder as soon as possible.
