Language Arts 3:

We have had a busy week completing pre-assessments such as the PSAT Reading and  an Argumentative Writing piece.  This will help me gauge where students are in those areas.

Spanish 3-4:

This week we have been learning about Mexico City.  The students have had many opportunities for speaking in the class with speed dating and human bingo.  We have a new vocabulary list for chapter 1.1, but this should be review. doc20160916134849

I am really looking forward to a great school year!  I am listing below some helpful school supplies to have.  They are not required the first day of class, but I thought you might be out shopping this week

Language Arts 3:

  1. Red pen
  2. Highlighter
  3. Pens/pencils
  4. Loose leaf paper
  5. Binder ( 1-1/2″ will work)
  6. 6 dividers for: bellwork, grammar, reading, writing, SSR
  7. Kleenex or Lysol wipes (A donation would be greatly appreciated.)

Spanish:

  1. Binder (1″ or 1-1/2″ will work)
  2. Dividers for bellwork, vocabulary lists, grammar notes, and assignments
  3. Pens (including one red pen) / pencils
  4. Highlighter
  5. Loose leaf paper
  6. Note cards/ Flashcards
  7. Kleenex or Lysol wipes (A donation would be appreciated.)

We spent the week discussing sample SAT papers and self-assessing our own writing.  We will continue to look at argumentation in articles and editorials.

Spanish 3-4

We just finished our presentations on Civil Rights topics.  We started reading To Kill a Mockingbird. Each student has his or her own novel to take home and bring back each day.  We read chapter 1 and have been analyzing the setting and characters.
