Good day!
First of all, I hope everyone is taking safety precautions and staying calm. As mentioned on our District website, Smith middle school website, CDC website and other resources, the best way to avoid exposure and be safe is to veer off large public gatherings, wash your hands and keep your hands away from you face.
In lieu of school closures, we have started virtual remote learning. I will be posting assignments, virtual labs, quizzes and bellwork on Google Classroom. These assignment will be explained in detail here my IBLOG. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
To my advisory students, I sent a quick survey for you to complete in order for me to find out your availability access to the internet.
Friday’s assignment--> Lesson 3 Progress Check … Lesson 3 Question: How could we figure out if something is living or not?
In this assignment, three different images of cells were provided: Bacteria, virus and fungi cell. Examine all 3 images and the facts below them to help you answer the CER assignment questions afterward.
Question 1: Use the black and white cell image on the right to identify then highlight what type of pathogen you think it is. Use the 3 colored images above as key to aid you with your decision.
Question 2: Explain using evidence provided and our class discussions how you figured that out.
Question 3: Using the multiple choice responses highlight the correct choice of claim, evidence and reasoning explaining why you think that pathogen is living.
Lastly, recall what we discussed, videos we watched and notes you wrote, to reflect on the questions that follow regarding the CER .
This assignment is due on Tuesday 3/17.
Also, I will be posting 2 videos about our next topic: Cell Theory to learn about the history of cells and characteristics living things need to survive.
This discussion will then be followed by an assignment labeled “Cell Theory” to be posted on Google Classroom . Directions will follow on a new post.
Have a good day and stay curious.
