6th graders continued to do a phenomenal job, as they shared their prototype home and results last week about their model minimizing thermal energy loss.  They conducted this exercise as they completed the final testing of their prototypes’ floor, middle section and roof, using an infrared thermometer.  I would like to give a special thanks to our wonderful Art teacher, Mr. Kade who helped with this project and gave students the opportunity to become young architects.  He also patiently gave students the chance to use products from his ART Room, as well as helped students who needed additional features added to their home.

We will be having a public gallery walk this week for the 6th graders to present their prototype homes to SMITH students and PARENT guests in the ATRIUM.  6th graders from different hours along with 7th& 8th graders will stop by to visit and learn from each other’s prototype!   I am attaching the schedule below for A & B Day students and we hope to see you then.  The Home Expo will be displayed in our school atrium and it is planned for Wednesday 3/27 (B-Day) & Thursday  3/28 (A-Day).

  • Students will take part in a gallery walk EXPO as they explain and visit their Energy Efficient home projects.
