Constitution Scavenger Hunt with 60-Second Civics

Fifty-five delegates were present at the Constitutional Convention, which was held in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787. Most students can identify George Washington, James Madison, and maybe even Alexander Hamilton. What about the other fifty-two delegates? Who were they? How did they influence the convention? In this quest, you will familiarize yourself with the delegates by listening to a series of 60-Second Civics podcast episodes devoted to the Framers of the Constitution.

Step1: You have been given a set of clues to identify nine delegates to the Constitutional Convention that was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the summer of 1787.  In order to complete your task you need the clues provided and podcasts from the Center for Civic Education.  The podcasts are available at https://civiced.org/framers .

Step 2:  You have been assigned a certain number of podcasts.  You are going to use eight 60-second Civics podcasts to help you learn about the Framers of the Constitution and identify six of the Framers using your clues.  In listening to them you should be able to determine which six delegates your clues indicate.

Step 3:  As soon as you think you have identified the delegates, check with Ms. Abraham or Ms. Ahmad to see if you are correct.  If you are correct, you have completed your quest.  If you are not correct, continue listening until you found the correct delegates.

The podcasts you are assigned are the following:

* John Lansing Jr.

* George Mason

* James Madison

* Alexander Hamilton

* Oliver Ellsworth

* William Samuel Johnson

* Edmond Randolf

* John Blair
