Self-Portrait on a Clay Slab

Vocabulary:

Clay slab- Texture- Portrait-guidelines -proportion

Students learned how to draw a portrait using proportion and guidelines. Their drawing was transferred to a clay slab.  Texture was added to the slab to make it look like a picture frame with a self-portrait. At the end, the students painted their slabs after firing.

  1. Dear Mrs.saad

You have been the best art teacher and the only art teacher I have ever had.You have been so nice and you have been encouraging me to do my best in school and in art.I would like you to know that art is my best and greatest subject of all subjects.I would also like you to know that you are the reason why I love art so much. I think that the clay slab project was incredibly fun messy but fun. I had a great time making the clay slab. The best part of the clay project was carving and coloring.I enjoyed making my clay slab.I also enjoy making art. When I grow up I’m going to be an artist.
Thank you for being my art teacher.
