I hope I wrote that correctly…just want to wish all of those observing, a happy and peaceful Ramadan.

Regarding fasting, I just wanted to let parents know that I had about 10 children in my class trying to “fast” today. I know most families don’t begin that practice until children are a bit older. Please, if your child is fasting, let me know, I know some children just want to be like their older siblings, and I don’t want anyone to get sick from not eating or drinking all day.

If your child tells me that they are fasting, I will honor that request, but please…if you’re allowing your child to eat and drink during the day, please let them know before they come to school. I think most of my “fasting first graders” changed their mind by lunch time!
