What We Did This Week

The students and I got to know each other!  We practiced rules and routines.  We met special area teachers, toured the school, attended an assembly and visited the playground.

Next week we will continue to practice our rules and routines as we build our stamina to make a full day of school.  Below are some reminders:

Please be sure to practice and make your child aware of lunch vs. snack for next week

Please be sure to store extra clothes on the top shelf of their locker

Please remember to send in a 1 inch. 3 ring binder so we can begin setting up our “Leadership Notebooks”

Dismissal is a 3:35 p.m.

Have a great weekend!

Lunch vs. Snack

Weekend Homework!

Dear Families,

Next week we will begin full days.  Dismissal will be at 3:35 p.m.  The students will be eating lunch here at school for the first time.  Please practice this weekend identifying with your student which food is your “SNACK” and which food is you “LUNCH”.

Lunch will be at 12:00

  • Feel free to label snack vs. lunch
  • Please use different containers for each
  • If your child is buying lunch please discuss the menu options at home so they know what to order when they get to school.

Thank you for your help!

Headphones

Dear Families,

We are asking for you to send in headphones for your child.  These headphones will be kept here at school for NWEA testing and computer lab use.  I have found headphones to work better than earbuds for the younger children.

Please send a pair of headphones to school for your child.  Place them in a Gallon Ziploc Bag with your student’s name on it.

Thank you in advance,

Mrs. Ruselink

We had a great 2nd day of school!

Assembly

The students attended a PBIS (Positive Behavior) assembly this morning where they met the school staff, learned about school rules, procedures and rewards, and had an introduction to the 7 Habits (a lot, I know!).

Lindbergh has given each student a “zipper pull” as a gift this school year – to remind students that they are a “Lindbergh Flyer.”  I helped each student put their zipper pull on their backpack.

Control Tower /Behavior Charts

The students have been learning classroom and building rules and consequences.  See if your student can explain to you our “control tower.”  This is our classroom system to track behavior.  If a student remains on green they are having a great day!  If a student chooses to break a rule they move their clip to yellow, then orange and finally red.  If a student lands on red they will be sent to the office to speak with Mrs. DeNeen (our principal).

Students will track their day with an individual behavior chart that you can find on the back of their red folder – daily.

See you tomorrow!

Mrs. Ruselink

First Day of School

It was hot and muggy and we got tired fast ……. but we made it!!

Hopefully the weather will break soon.

School Supplies

I know I did not have the chance to check backpacks for supplies – I will try to empty them tomorrow.  My goal is to also have a change of clothes stored on the top shelf of their locker as well.

Snack

The children are welcome to bring their own snack starting tomorrow.  Please do not send in snacks with any nuts until we have student allergies figured.

Water Bottles

If you would like to send a water bottle with your student during this time of hot weather please do so.  We’ll keep them on the top shelf of our locker.

If you have any questions or concerns please email me.  If I forget something please keep reminding me!  Thank you for your patience and support during this busy back to school time!
