Toy Drive

Dear Parents,

Our Lindbergh Student Lighthouse Team is organizing a donation drive for Children’s Hospital.  At the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, toys & games are also good medicine. Play is a child’s language. It allows children to express how they are feeling, escape from daily stresses, and socialize with others who may be experiencing similar situations. Developmentally appropriate toys and games are essential to providing children with opportunities for play in the hospital. They serve an important therapeutic function by bringing a sense of joy and normalcy into the life of a sick child.

Reminders:

  • SAFETY is the most important consideration when selecting toys.
  • NO USED ITEMS PLEASE. Children’s Hospital only accepts NEW toys, games, books, and stuffed animals.
  • Violent games and books, toy guns, swords and projectile toys are not accepted. • Please refrain from donating candy, food, or religious materials.
  • Please avoid dollar store items because of recent safety recalls.
  • Please DO NOT wrap gifts.
  • Arts & craft materials must have the non-toxic seal (AP, CP, health label NonToxic).
  • Because some children are sensitive to natural rubber latex, please: Buy only specific name brands whenever possible.
  • Do not donate items known to contain natural rubber latex including, but not limited to, rubber balloons, Koosh balls, rubber stamps, rubber balls, rubber erasers, etc.
  • Only mylar balloons and vinyl items are permitted.
  • Monetary donations should be directed to the Child Life Toy Fund for the purchase of toys

Your child in Young 5 /Kindergarten  is asked to donate:

INFANT-TODDLER (newborn to 2 years)

  • Fisher Price Aquarium
  • Playschool Busy Pop Ups
  • Fisher Price Fun Links Gym
  • Lights & Sounds Interactive toys
  • Mobiles (no cloth pieces)

  • Leapfrog Dreamscapes Soother
  • Play Telephones
  • Fisher Price Peek-a-Boo Blocks
  • Rattles & Squeeze Toys

Reminders for the Week of 5-16

Leadership Day

We are preparing for our Lindbergh School Leadership day on June 2, 2016. We are asking that each family choose one of the 7 habits and create a locker poster with words and pictures describing how that habit impacts your family.

Paper and directions were already sent home – let me know if you need another paper.

We are providing the paper for your family.  Please make sure that your poster is created portrait not landscape (vertical not horizontal).

Each Lindbergh family  is being asked to create one poster per Lindbergh student in the family.     If you have more than 1 Lindbergh student in your family, the family may focus on one habit or the family can use a different  habit on each child’s poster to display.  For example, if you have 3 children at Lindbergh that means  3 posters will be turned in with a habit of choice on it.

Completed posters are due Tues May 31, 2016.  This is your chance to show the creativity of your family.  Please don’t hesitate to use different kinds of materials, glitter, colorful markers, stickers and more.

Here is a list of Habits for you to choose from

  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin with the End in Mind
  3. Put First Things First
  4. Think Win-Win
  5. Seek First to Understand then to Be Understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the Saw

School Planting

Our class is planting flowers in front of the school on Thursday.  If you would like to send gardening gloves with you student this day – that may help.  We will share the shovels provided.
