Full Days

Please note we will be starting full days of school on Tuesday, September 13th.  Dismissal will be at 3:35 on the blacktop.

Lunch vs. Snack

Please work this weekend with your student on their lunch vs. their snack.  Some students confuse the two.  Snack should be small – one item and no juice.  Water bottles are encouraged.

Lunches will be put in the beige bin outside the classroom every morning.

You should have received a menu for school lunches this week.  If your student is buying school lunch please send the appropriate money marked in an envelope.

Specials Schedule

Below is our special classes schedule.  Please wear gym shoes on the days we have gym.

Monday:  Music and Library Book Checkout

Tuesday:  Gym and Art

Wednesday:  Music

Thursday:  Gym

Friday:  Media

What We Did This Week

  • We spent the week learning rules and routines.
  • We learned each other’s names.
  • We listened to many stories.
  • We colored pictures from the stories and practiced writing our names.
  • We learned some new songs and poems.
  • We attended a school-wide assembly.
  • We traveled around the school learning where the gym, bathrooms, cafeteria, art room, library and computer lab is.
  • We played with friends and participated in Free Choice.
  • We practiced counting.
  • We practiced operating our own locker, hanging our backpacks up on the hooks and opening our own snack.

Have a restful long weekend and see you for a full day on Tuesday.

Please email me with any questions you might have.

2016-2017 School Year

Hello!

I Hope you are enjoying the last couple days of summer.  The “Back to School” sales have started.  You should have received a suggested school supply list when you registered, but just in case you can find it below:

1 Box of Crayola Markers (Classic Colors)

1 Box of Crayola Crayons (8 pack classic colors)

2-4 glue sticks

3-4 Dry Erase Markers (Expo brand works best)

1 Box of Tissue

1 Bottle of Hand Sanitizer

Supplies can be brought to school any time the first week.  The supplies will be communal so there is no need to label them.  Thank you in advance!

Class lists will be posted on the school doors the Friday afternoon before Labor Day.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th (this will be a half-day of school).

The first week of school there will be a “soft-start” – this means half days September 7th, 8th and 9th.

Thank You!

I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of gifts and appreciation for the year.

Thank you for everything that you did to support the students and myself with the school year.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Thank you for your donations and volunteer time.

I wish everyone a happy summer.  Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions about Kindergarten.

ruselij@dearbornschools.org

I also told the students they are more than welcome to write to me over the summer and I will make every effort to write back.

End of the School Year

Just a reminder that tomorrow – the last day of school – is a half-day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.  We plan to have ice cream sundaes and play on the playground at 11:00.

The students brought home class work this week.  I can’t wait for you to read their writing journals.  They have come a long way.

Their white 3-ring binder was also sent home.  Many Dearborn schools keep a data binder.  Hold onto it over the summer.  Your child’s Kindergarten teacher at their homeschool may ask for it.

Report cards are coming home today.

Please be aware of any cafeteria fines or library fines.

Next year’s school calendar can be found on the Dearborn Public Schools website.  The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 6th (half-day).  Be aware many of the Dearborn Kindergartens do a “soft start” like we did at Lindbergh this school year (usually half-days the first week of school).

Have a safe and relaxing summer and please email me if you have any questions.
