THANK YOU!

To the many parents who helped make our Halloween party a success!  I so appreciate your time, donations and patience!!!!

No School

There will be no school for students Tuesday, November 5th.

There will be a ½ day of school for students, November 8th.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

Late Start

There is a late start on Wednesday, November 13th.  School will begin at 9:35 a.m.

Thanksgiving Break

There will be no school for students on November 27th, 28th and 29th.

Scholastic Book Club

November order forms are being sent home today in the folders.  The deadline for ordering is November 15thYou can find directions on how to order online under “Scholastic Book Orders” on the classroom BLOG.

October (PBIS) Reward

Students who were on “green” 80% of the month will enjoy a concert at the end of the day (today) by the Dearborn High Marching Band.

What We Did This Week

  • Our Alpha Friend was “Andy Apple”, Letter Aa
  • In math we continue to talk about “sorting” like objects.  We have also been using our numeral song to help us form our numbers.
  • Next week we will begin to rotate though Daily 5 (literacy centers).
  • In Science we continue to talk about our  5 Senses
  • We worked in our poem books
  • We worked with the building Occupation Therapist (Mrs.  Oller) on good handwriting skills and how to hold our pencils!
  • We enjoyed many Halloween stories!

Reminders for the rest of the week (10/28/13)

Thursday – Halloween

Students can wear their costume to school.  The Kindergarten parade will be at 9:00.  Parents are welcome to attend.  We will begin rotating through our planned Halloween activities after the parade.  If you plan on volunteering please stop and sign in at the office.  Costumes will be put away in backpacks by lunch.

Newsletter 10-25-13

A BIG THANK YOU

A very big thank you for the generous donations that have come in for our Raffle Basket for the Holiday Boutique.  There is still time to donate.  Donations can be sent to school in your students folder.

Haunted School

Don’t forget Haunted School is tonight beginning at 6:30.

I have put a link to the school’s PTA blog on our classroom blog so you can access information about PTA events.

Reading Logs

October reading logs are due next Friday, November 1st.  Read our class goal and your student will earn a personal pizza from Pizza Hut!

Halloween

We will celebrate Halloween next Thursday on October 31st.  Students are allowed to wear their costume to school.  There will be a costume parade around 9:00 a.m.  Our class will do some Halloween crafts and enjoy a special snack afterwards.

PBIS (Positive Behavior) Reward for the Month of October

Students who have had less than 6 yellows for the month of October will enjoy a performance by the Dearborn High School Marching Band.

What We Did This Week

  • Our Alpha Friend was Hattie Horse, Letter Hh
  • We continued work in our Writer’s Workshop books using a topic list
  • We have built our “Read To Self” stamina to 10 minutes and will soon be rotating through the other parts of our literacy program!
  • In Science we have started work on “Our 5 Senses.”  This week we used our sense of sight to observe color changes.
  • We continue to work on our play and socialization skills during Free Choice.

HALLOWEEN PARTY SUPPLIES

We are in need of some supplies for celebrating Halloween in the classroom next Thursday.  If you are interested in donating please “leave a reply” below with what you can bring so others will not duplicate.  Thank you very much for your help!

I package of white paper plates

2 rolls of white streamers

I box of Q-Tips

1 “fun size” bag of M & M’s (we need at least 16 bags)

Juice Boxes (16)

Napkins

Donut Holes or Halloween Cookies (16)

1 large bag of Popcorn

1 bag of Candy Corn

HALLOWEEN

We will celebrate Halloween in the classroom next Thursday (Oct. 31st) morning.  The students are invited to come to school that day dressed in costume.  There will be a Kindergarten costume parade that we will march in around 9:00 through the hallways of the school.

After the parade we will return to the classroom for a couple different craft stations and a Halloween snack!

If you are interested in volunteering that morning please let me know.  I will need help with our craft stations.  You must have an approved background check on file.

Costumes will come off at lunch time and will be sent home in backpacks.

Please remember no toy weapons should be sent to school for costumes.

Books from Home

If your student has a favorite book/books from home that he or she would like to use in their book box here at school they are more than welcome to bring them in.  Make sure that the book is labled with their name.

We have 9 minutes of stamina built in READ TO SELF!!!
