September Reward Party – Thursday, October 2nd

The students who have earned the reward party for good behavior in September will have an extra recess and opportunity to enjoy a “junk food” snack on Thursday afternoon.

If your student earned the reward party for good behavior you will find a blue slip of paper in your student’s red folder.  We need your help with their favorite “junk food” snack.

Please keep addressing positive behavior at home with your students.  Our 3 big rules in class are:

1.  Keep you hands to yourself (feet too)

2.  Listen when the teacher is talking

3.  Use nice words

Additional Field Trip Information

I forgot to mention in my last post regarding the field trip to the Apple Orchard that parents would have to drive themselves to the orchard.  Since we are traveling with the other Kindergarten classes there will not be room on the bus for parents.

Also we ask for no younger siblings on the trip.

Thank you!

Field Trip – October 23rd

Our first field trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard will be on October 23rd.  The bus will leave Lindbergh School at 9:30 a.m. and arrive back by 2:30 p.m.  We need chaperones!  The more the merrier!

In order to chaperone you need to have completed a background check.  Most parents did this paperwork during registration.  If you need to complete this paper work please stop by the office and talk to Ms. Cathy.

The paperwork usually takes 2 weeks to complete – please plan ahead with the date of our trip in mind.

If you are interested in chaperoning please let me know with an email:

ruselij@dearbornschools.org

Permission and payment slips will be send home at a different date.

Thank you!

What We Did This Week

  • Our AlphaFriend this week was Sammy Seal, letter S.
  • We sorted magnetic letters to find “m” and “s”
  • We continue to read stories about Fall.
  • We wrote in our journals off our whole group topic list.
  • In math we practiced counting by 1’s and introduced the shapes of the pattern blocks.
  • In Handwriting we enjoyed songs about our letter shapes and practice shaking with our dominant hand (right).

We will begin NWEA testing (a district wide test for assessment purposes) during the month of October – the assessment will be completed on the computers.

Much of the assessment for Kindergarten is read to them by the computer.  This is why headphones are very important for each child to have.  If you haven’t sent headphones for your student to use yet they can be found at the Dollar Store.  Or ear buds can work too.

Thank you in advance!

Mrs. Ruselink

Thanks!
