Scholastic Book Fair

Our first Scholastic Book Fair starts tomorrow during Open House from 6-7:30 pm in the Media Center.  Students will preview and create a wish list with their classes during the day.  The Book Fair will also be open on Friday, September 15- Wednesday, September 20th from 8:30– 4: 00 pm.  We will be closed for lunch from 11:30 – 12:30 pm.  Teachers will also create wish lists for their classroom libraries, by placing books in their bin next to cash register.  Each book purchased will earn a raffle ticket for our two raffle baskets and posters.   Hope to See You There!
Can’t make the Book Fair?  No Problem!  You can shop our book fair online! Our online fair will run until Friday, September 22.  All orders purchased during our fair will ship for free to the school.
Want to help out, but don’t know how to sign up?  See what shifts are still available in the link below.

Reminders For The First Full Week of School

We had a great first week of “soft start.”  The students continue to work on rules and routines that will help our days go smoothly.  Below are some things to keep in mind this week:

  • Please pack one healthy snack for morning snack (discuss the difference between snack and lunch with your student, maybe pack the snack in a different part of the backpack so food isn’t confused with their lunch box).
  • Our lunch schedule will shift to 12:00 noon
  • We will go to gym class on Monday and Tuesday so please wear tennis shoes on these days ( I will send home a special classes schedule soon)
  • Open House is Thursday evening.  You can come tour the school.  The Scholastic Book Fair will also be in the Library.
  • Please make sure everything is labeled with your student’s name (coats, lunchbox, backpack)
  • There is a PTA meeting Tuesday night in the cafeteria at 7:00 p.m.  PTA membership forms will be coming home this week
  • If you are interested in being our room parent please see meTogether you and I will plan our classroom parties for Halloween, Christmas, Valentines and End of the Year.  Your biggest job would be to work with the PTA in arranging our raffle basket for the Holiday Boutique.  The PTA will hold a couple room parent meetings usually before or during school.
  • Please make sure you have completed, signed and turned in your emergency card (the beige piece of paper that came home the first day).
  • If you did not complete a background check at registration and would be interested in helping in the classroom or going on field trips please stop by the office and ask Ms. Pina about doing that paper work.  It does take a while to process and we will most likely be going to the Apple Orchard for a field trip soon.
  • Remember the first day that Kindergarten and Young Fives have no school is Friday, September 22 (the teachers have Early Childhood professional development this day)
  • It will be a long week getting everybody through full days (even me!).  Please remember early bedtimes.  Looking forward to week #2!
  • Please email me with any concerns, ruselij@dearbornschools.org
