What We Did This Week

We introduced our Alpha Friend, Bennie Bear, letter B

We colored the letter B, colored letter B pictures, and worked with letter B in our poem books.

We wrote in our journals.  We are learning to draw our stories with details and basic shapes.

We are reading stories by the author Mo Willems (Pigeon books)

We worked in our Handwriting book using our “three finger squeeze” and have started our study of the“straight – line” letter family

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid

We are also building numbers on the ten frame

We practiced writing numbers 1-20 this week

We visted our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

We enjoyed playing on the playground

We enjoyed Free Choice Time

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers

Students who were on green 4 days this week attended the prize box party

In Science we used our sense of hearing to play Sound BINGO

 

Note from the PTA

Parents – We are still looking for volunteers to work at the Boutique on Saturday.
This is our biggest event of the school year. We especially need someone to work the classroom basket raffle.
For those of you that don’t know, ALL of the money generated from the classroom basket raffle is given right back to our AMAZING teachers. Please consider signing up for a shift.

Holiday Boutique and Bake Sale
November 11, 2017

WE NEED BAKERS!!!

DONATE YOUR
CAKES, CUPCAKES, COOKIES, PIES,
MUFFINS, BREADS, HOMEMADE CANDIES, ETC.

Whatever you like to make, bake, or purchase.  Yes, that’s right!  We accept homemade and bakery/store bought.
~We also need GLUTEN FREE and NUT FREE items.~

Please label your items with: 
-Your teacher’s name
-Description
-If it contains nuts
-If it’s gluten free

Our sale last year was a tremendous success thanks to all the wonderful
families who donated their time, energy, and delicious baked goods.

If you want to help out but don’t want to bake, we could use the following donations: 

CLEAR BASKET WRAP, PAPER DOILIES, PLATES,
HOLIDAY PACKAGE RIBBON, CLEAR TREAT BAGS

We are reading stories with rhyming words

We worked in our Handwriting book using our “three finger squeeze”

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid

We are also building numbers on the ten frame

We created shapes on the geoboards

We visted our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

We enjoyed playing on the playground

We enjoyed Free Choice Time

We continue to learn to rotate through Daily 5 (literacy) centers

Students who were on green 4 days this week attended the cookie party

In Science we used our Five Senses to observe popcorn popping and we practiced using our sense of sight with mixing primary colors

Reminders for the Week of October 30th

  • Thank you for all of the help and support with our Halloween party yesterday!  It was great!
  • Reminder that PTA Raffle Tickets are due
  • Please consider donating 10.00 to our raffle basket for the Holiday Boutique
  • October reading logs can be turned in for a pizza certificate
  • Reminder that there is a half-day Friday, dismissal at 11:45

Please help your student remember to return their library book back to school on Monday.

 

Classroom Halloween Party

Our class will be celebrating Halloween on Tuesday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m.  The Kindergarten and Young 5 costume parade and our party should take about an hour and a half.

Students are welcome to wear a costume to school (with clothes underneath).  We will be taking our costumes off after the party and putting them in our backpack.

Parents are welcome to sign in at the office and get their visitor badge at the entry bell (8:35) Tuesday morning.  Our room mom will need some help setting up in the cafeteria.  The parade will begin at 9:00 in the hallway.

Half-Day of School – Friday, November 3rd, dismissal is at 11:45.

We are also building numbers on the ten frame

We stamped, colored and discussed two dimensional shapes

We visted our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

We enjoyed playing on the playground

We enjoyed Free Choice Time

We continue to learn to rotate through Daily 5 (literacy) centers

Students who were on green 4 days this week attended a Halloween Story reading.

We will begin exploring our Five Senses in Science next week.
