Calendar:  Half Day, Friday, January 26th

What We Did This Week

We introduced our Alpha Friends, Queenie Queen (Q) and Reggie Rooster (R)

We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked in our poem books.

We introduced the sight word: look

We wrote in our journals using details.

We finished reading books by author Laura Numeroff (“If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”).

We reviewed in our Handwriting books using our “three finger squeeze” and introducing the “magic C” – “big curve”

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid.

We also practiced counting by 10’s to 100.

We continue our number talks and building numbers on the “ten frame.”

We also continue to practice our number formation.

In Science we are tracking the daily weather.

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

We will begin discussing Habit 4 – “Think Win Win”

We enjoyed Free Choice Time.

In Second Steps we continued in lessons on knowing how to recognize different emotions

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.

Students who were on green 4 days this week attended the reward party with our special gift.

During the month of January I will be using the majority of class time for mid-year assessments.

Calendar:  Late Start Wednesday, January 17th

What We Did This Week

We introduced our Alpha Friends, Yetta Yo-Yo (Y) and Umbrie Umbrella (U)

We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked in our poem books.

We introduced the sight word: go.

We wrote in our journals using details.

We are reading books by author Laura Numeroff (“If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”).

We worked in our Handwriting books using our “three finger squeeze” and introducing the “magic C” – “big curve”

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid.

We also introduced counting by 10’s to 100.

We continue our number talks and building numbers on the “ten frame.”

We also continue to practice our number formation.

We visited our “First Class” groups where the students discussed Habit 3 (Leader In Me), put “first things first.”

We enjoyed Free Choice Time.

We reviewed what we have learned in our Second Steps Social Skills curriculum:  how to be a good listener, how to focus on the speaker, and how to ask for help.

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.

Students who were on green 4 days this week attended the cookie reward party.

During the month of January I will be using the majority of class time for mid-year assessments.

I am overwhelmed by the help, donations and holiday gifts.  Thank you for being such a great group of families to work with and thank you for sending me your children ready to learn every day!

We colored the letters , colored letter pictures, and worked with the letters in our poem books.

We introduced the sight word: me

We wrote in our journals.  We are learning to draw our stories with details and basic shapes.

We are reading books about snow and the holidays

We worked in our Handwriting book using our “three finger squeeze” and practicing capital T and I (straight line letters).

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid

We are also building numbers on the Holiday ten frame and having “number talks”

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

We enjoyed Free Choice Time

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers

Students who were on green 4 days this week watched the Holiday movie.

Please work with your student at home on learning to dress themselves in winter clothes.  If the snow starts to accumulate please wear snow boots to school and pack shoes to wear indoors in their backpack.

If the temperature (with windchill) is 20 or below there will be indoor line up and indoor receess.

Remember that students need snowpants and boots if we go outside or they will need to stay on the black top.

Holiday Party

Classroom Holiday Party, Friday morning, December 22nd from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  A sign-up for food and materials was posted.

We’ll enjoy some holiday crafts and games and then have a special snack.

Announcement from the District

Due to the severe weather predicted for this afternoon, (12/13/17) all after school activities will be cancelled in the Dearborn Public Schools. This includes athletics, childcare programs, adult and community education, building permits, and other events specific to individual schools.
All schools will remain open today and close at their regular time. Parents have the option to pick up their child early. Any student who is picked up by their parent or legal guardian will be given an excused absence. High school students will only be allowed to leave early if a parent or legal guardian contacts the school.
Normal bus routes will operate but may run late. All extracurricular busses for activities will be cancelled.
