What We Did This Week

We review our Alpha Friends daily.

We introduced the sight word: we

We are “stretching sounds” and recording what we hear in our journals.

We continue to read Dr. Suess stories.

In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and curves – this week we practiced B.

In math we introduced counting by 5’s

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

In Second Steps we talked about stoping “pausing” our frustration and naming what we are feeling.

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.

We attended first class where students talked about Habit 5 “Seek First to Understand”

We also attendended a March is Reading Month Kick Off Assembly .

What We Did This Week

We review our Alpha Friends daily.

We introduced the sight word: is

We are “stretching sounds” and recording what we hear in our journals.  We also read and wrote about Giraffes (informational writing).

We have started to read Dr. Suess books in class to begin our March is Reading Month celebration.

In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and curves – this week we practiced P.

 

We used sticks to build shapes and talked about how many sides each shape had.

In Science we continued our weather unit with reading a story about how to dress for the weather.

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

In Second Steps we talked about searching for clues in our body to tell us how we (or friends) are feeling.

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.

100 Days of School

Hope everyone has had a nice winter break.

Just a reminder that we will be celebrating 100 Days of School on Monday, February 26th – the day we return from winter break.

We will celebrate with a special snack mix.

At home please count out 100 of “something” to add to our mix (ideas include cereal pieces, fish crackers, pretzels or raisins) and bring it to school in a Ziploc baggie.

We do not have any food allergies.

Winter Break

February 19th-23rd

Valentine’s Day

Thank you for the many Valentine donations and for the volunteers who helped with our celebration.

100 Days of School

We will be celebrating 100 Days of School on Monday, February 26th – the day we return from winter break.

We will celebrate with a special snack mix.

At home please count out 100 of “something” to add to our mix (ideas include cereal pieces, fish crackers, pretzels or raisins) and bring it to school in a Ziploc baggie.

We do not have any food allergies.

 

What We Did This Week

We introduced the sight word: see

We are “stretching sounds” and recording what we hear in our journals.

We read more stories that we got from the Book Fair.

In handwriting we are beginning practice with letters that have straight lines and curves.

We are counting to 100 using songs and our math grid.

We also practiced counting by 10’s to 100.

We continue our number talks and building numbers on the “ten frame.”

We also continue to practice our number formation.

We practiced addition with simple number stories.

In Science we talked about the human heart.  We created a Valentine for our heart!

We are introducing Habit 5, Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood.

We visited our special classes, Gym, Art, Music and Media

 

In Second Steps we continue to practice reading emotions and having empathy.  We talked about accidents and how to communicate and apologize to friends.

We rotated through our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.

Kindergarten Round-Up

The district has announced it’s schedule for Kindergarten Round-Up.  Please see the below schedule for your home school’s date and time.

Lindbergh Young Five students who reside within the Lindbergh boundaries are automatically placed into a Kindergarten class.  You do not need to re-enroll.  You are still welcome to attend Round – Up but it is the same presentation as last year.
