First Week Report

We had a great first week!

The students continue to practice our daily routine, procedures and rules.  Next week begin full days.  Please keep in mind the following:

  • Pack a snack for the afternoon.  Be sure to talk to your student about the difference between their snack and their lunch.  Pack it separate from their lunch box.
  • Kids Club:  please be sure to let me know your student’s afternoon schedule.
  • The heat will continue next week.  Students may bring water bottles.  Be sure they are labeled with their name.
  • Special Classes Schedule

Mondays:  Music

Tuesdays:  Gym

Wednesdays:  Music

Thursdays:  Media

Fridays:  Art and Gym

Please wear gym shoes on Tuesdays and Fridays!

  • If you did not come for an afternoon assessment during soft start I will attempt to assess your student in class but please be patient, this will take time.
  • Assessment communication will come home with Nightly Literacy homework beginning next week.
  • Free and Reduced lunch forms will also come home next week.
  • The school supplies that your student brought home in the HAP bag is a gift from the DFSE (Dearborn Federation of School Employees).  Every Kindergarten student in the district received this gift.  These can stay at home!
  • This week students were introduced to the first two Habits in our Leader In Me program.  We talked about being “Proactive” and “Beginning with the End in Mind.”  Students wrote a goal for Kindergarten.
  • Behavior Chart:  Students learned about our clip system and the rules and expectations when at school.  At the end of the day on the back of their red folder they will bring their behavior report home.  Green=good day!  Yellow=warning  Orange=time out  Red=principal’s office.
  • Please return red folders daily.

I think that is all for now.

Have a good Holiday weekend!  See everyone Tuesday!

First Day of School

Hello Families!

I’m looking forward to seeing everybody Monday!  The entry bell will ring at 8:35 a.m.

Our class lines up on the number 5 on the south end black top.

Kindergarten parents are welcome (and encouraged) to walk into the building with us the first day of school.  We will have a short classroom meeting and then parents will be excused to the auditorium for brief “Welcome to Lindbergh” assembly.

Remember that the first week of school is a “soft start.”  Monday-Thursday are half days with dismissal at 11:45.  There is no school Friday.

Kindergarten students will practice eating lunch in the cafeteria next week.  Please plan to pack a lunch Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

On the first day of school you will be asked to sign up for a day and time that you can bring your student back to school for a short assessment (during the afternoons of soft start).

In the meantime please subscribe to my iBlog!

See you soon!
