What We Did This Week
We checked out our first library book!
We visited art, gym and music.
ELA (English Language Arts):
We focused on letters Tt and Nn this week in addition to rhyming words and initial sounds. We are working on answering questions about our read aloud stories including questions about the characters, setting, problem, solution and discussing the roles of an illustrator and author.
We also learned what to do during “Read to Self” (a component of our literacy program). The students met with me in small literacy groups.
Writing:
We are responding to narratives read in class with our “writing” (drawing). We are working on how to draw detailed pictures. We worked on drawing characters (or people) with a lesson about MAT MAN (body parts). Mat man is a component of our Handwriting Without Tears program. See if your student can draw mat man for you.
Math:
Math lessons included counting on, the concept of zero, working with numbers 0-5, and attributes of two related objects. We also are starting to form numerals 1-10.
Science:
We continue to talk about what a scientist is and what they do (observe, record, experiment, etc.)
Social Studies:
We are working on getting along with others. Recognizing emotions and using our words. Please see the “Second Steps” letter coming home in the red folder. This is from our social skills curriculum. It discussed what we did this week. We worked on how to greet somebody.
The students enjoyed interacting with each other during Free Choice time.
Have a great weekend!Leave a comment |
