News and Information:

2/5/20 Late Start

2/7/20 Kindergarten and Young 5’s no school (teacher professional development day)

2/17-2/21 Winter Break

What We Did This Week:

ELA:

Our new sight word is “to”

We worked in small groups. Each student should have some emergent readers in their reading bag to practice reading (with our new words). When students are reading please remind them to use their “reading finger”, and use the picture to help them decode unknown words.

Students should also have a “ring of words” in their reading bag. We will add to this as they learn new words.

Reading the alphabet chart and “bouncing” on the letter sounds is also good daily practice.

We have introduced last names as daily practice in class. You can practice this at home too!

Writing:

We introduced the “Magic C” letters using our chalk boards.

Math:

We continue to study counting by tens and writing teen numbers.

We will begin a basic addition and subtraction unit (putting numbers together and taking them apart).

Science:

In Science we observed the weather and recorded what we saw. We are becoming “weather trackers”

Have a great weekend!

(We missed library day Monday because of the holiday. We will go on the 27th)
