What We Did This Week:

We visited art, gym and music.

ELA (English Language Arts):

We have met all of our Alpha Friends and we are reviewing letter names and sounds. We are also discussing basic concepts of print and studying the difference between a letter and a word. We continue to read big books and discuss concepts important for reading.

We rotated through Daily 5 and students met with me in small literacy groups. Students are beginning to bring home practice bags (please keep them in the student’s backpack).

Writing:

Students continue to write with detail in their journal. In addition they are helping me write stories, recording specific sounds they hear.

We are introducing informational writing. Writing that tells facts. We wrote about snowflakes.

Math:

We continue our Measurement unit with exploring using a balance. We introduced the vocabulary “heavier than” and “lighter than.” We introduced the vocabulary “equal to.”

Social Studies

We cut and pasted and sorted pictures of Needs and Wants. We introduced the word “good” and next week will discuss what a “service” is.

Have a great weekend!
