Information for the Week of 5-13-19

New sight words:  were, came

Spelling: -up family (sub,cub, rub) plus three individual words (see spelling notebook in reading bag)

Spelling Test Wednesday

Please keep your spelling notebook in the reading bag

Phonics:  review of long and short vowel sounds , CVC words

Reading:  Author’s purpose; why the author writes the book, beginning – middle – and end.

Students are being assessed for an end of the year reading level (DRA).

NWEA end of the year reading and math assessments will take place this week and next.

Writing: Narrative stories (2-3 sentences, finger space, punctuation and appropriate uses of capital letters.

Please make sure your student is completing Nightly Literacy Homework.  Examples include practicing spelling and sight words, reading the books in their reading bags or being read to, Razz Kids, and or keeping a journal at home.

Math:  Breaking apart teen numbers, making groups of ten and counting the “Say Ten” way (Lessons 9-12)

Science:  Living vs. Non-living, What Plants Need to Live

Social Studies:  National symbols, rules and laws
