Thank you for your cooperation with our “How To” writing project! Your child will be bringing home their rough draft, along with a white piece of construction paper, on which they can complete their writing. This is due back to school on Friday, February 19th. Below is an example of what a (almost) completed project might look like. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Writing Project Next Week

Writing Project Next Week

Dear Parents,
For the last 2 weeks we have been working on “how to” writing and have written several pieces explaining “how to” do something. To wrap up our informational writing unit, your child will do a final writing piece, with detailed instructions and illustrations, on how to do something. We have provided a list of topic suggestions (see below) of what your son/daughter might be an expert at. Each student will choose ONE of the ideas listed and, with your help at home, will create a step-by-step writing project. We ask that you take some time over this long weekend and talk to your child about what they feel they are best at out of the topics below. They need to be able to explain, in detail, how to perform their chosen task. We will start the writing plan in class on Tuesday, after the break. They will bring this rough draft home to copy onto construction paper (we will send the paper home next week). As always, please contact us with any questions.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Topic ideas:
– how to brush your teeth
– how to make a sandwich
– how to tie your shoes
– how to blow a bubble
– how to wash your hands
– how to make a paper heart

We will be having a Valentine’s Day Party this Thursday, February 11th in the afternoon. We will be sending a note home about the party. Please do not send any candy. You may bring in a healthy snack to share with the class. We have 20 students in our classroom. If you choose to send in Valentine cards please don’t write student names. You can have your child write who the card is from instead. This will save time when they pass out cards to the class.

Thank you,
Mrs. Baydoun

Hello Parents!

Don’t forget tomorrow is pajama day! There will be a reading packet sent home tomorrow that your children can work on over the break, there is also a yellow “reading log” that will be in their folders for them to track how many minutes they read each day.
