Just a reminder that 1st graders will be taking the NWEA test this week. We are scheduled to take the test this Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure that your child gets a good nights sleep and eats breakfast. Please make every effort for your child to be at school on those days as well.

We will be working on timelines in social studies. I will be sending home the project letter and directions to go with the project. The due date is May 13th.

On Friday, we finished up our Care to the Core initiative to help students understand the importance of kindness and worked on ways in which we can incorporate ways to show kindess both at school and at home.
We are working on Animal reports in writing this month. Students are gathering important facts about an animal of their choosing. They have been working really hard and doing a wonderful job.
Please continue to monitor the weather outside and dress students accordingly. Please continue to have students wear a jacket to school since we have morning line up and it is still quite cool in the morning.

On Wednesday, April 17th we will be having our 1st grade Music Concert. Concert will start at 10:00 a.m.
On Wednesday as well PTA will be having an Egg Hunt. Students who bring in $4.00 can participate in the egg hunt.
Students can continue to bring in money until Tuesday.

Hello Parents,
We had a wonderful time at the Ann Arbor Hands on Mueseum on Tuesday. Students were able to explore all types of sciene related exhibits.
Some reminders for the coming weeks:
We are sending home some notes regarding our PTA Spring Festival. Students who bring in $4.00 can participate in an egg hunt and take a picture with the Easter Bunny. STudents can bring in money until April 16th. The egg hunt will take place next Wednesday, April 17th.
Our 1st graders will be having their Music concert next Wednesday April 17th at 10:00a.m. in the main cafeteria.

Hello,
We will be sending home a note and permission slip for our upcoming field trip to the Ann Arbor Hands On Musueum. We will going on Tuesday, April 9th. If you would like to chaperone please make sure that you have filled out a volunteer form in the office. We will be taking volunteers on a first come basis so please make sure that you have the proper paperwork filled out. If your form is not completed in time, you will not be able to attend the field trip. Parents who would like to volunteer will be given a small group of students to chaperone while on the field trip.

Good Morning,
We are starting a new unit in Math this week. We will be focusing on place value, comparison and addition and subraction to 40 in this unit.
In Social Studies we are working on Maping Skills and reading Maps.
In Writing we are working on Narrative Writing. Students will be writing a narrative story focusing on using Characters, settings, and a strong beginning, middle and ending.

We are finishing up our WIDA Testing this week. Students are doing a wonderful job in test taking and working really hard this month.
We have started a new unit in Math focusing on Measurment. In Social Studies we are working on Map Skills.
In Science we will begin work on Moon Phases.

We will be having a busy and fun filled week! We are celebrating our 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day this Wednesday February 13th. Please remember that if you would like to send in a treat for the party it must be NUT FREE since we have some students in our class who are peanut allergies.
