The “Battle” is over….

Thank you to all students and their families who brought in socks to donate! As you know, socks are the number one requested items in homeless shelters; your generosity will benefit many people this winter season.  It was a close and exciting race, but only one class could win… Congratulations to the 7th/8th hour block with a total of 309 pairs of socks!  Your class will enjoy a pizza party tomorrow, during class!
7th/8th hour may bring pop and chips to enjoy with their pizza. Pizza is my treat!
All in all we will be donating over 630 pairs of socks!!! Well done!

All other classes will enjoy a special treat tomorrow.

“Battle of the Socks”

I must say that this is the biggest “battle I have ever had”! I am proud of the students and their families who are giving from their heart. The students are really thinking about others 🙂

Some comments that students have said to me:

“helping others makes me feel good. “

“I know that it will make someone happy to get new socks.”

“I have a lot of stuff… some people don’t even have socks. Than makes me sad.”

Here are the results so far:

1st place- 4/5 with 226 pairs of socks

2nd place- 7/8 with 167 pairs of socks

3rd place-29 pairs of socks

“The Battle”

The Battle continues…

7/8 Block in the lead with 134 pairs of socks!!!!

4/5 Block – 92 pairs of socks

2/3 Block- 17 pairs of socks

****Thank you to all students and their parents who have donated to this cause. It really means a lot to a person to have a new, clean, dry pair of socks. ****

Battle of the Socks…. it’s on!!!

So, each year I try to have some sort of “Battle” with my students to help others in need.

This year we talked about the need for SOCKS.  We all hear about donating gloves and hats in the winter time, but how about peoples feet?  They get cold too!

SOCKS are the NUMBER ONE thing requested at homeless shelters. Think about it, we use our feet everyday, they take us places, right?

My challenge to my students is to donate as many NEW pairs of socks for homeless, which I will take to a local shelter.  The battle will go for two weeks. Ending on Thursday, 12/19/19.

Let’s help others out, by giving the gift of warm feet!

Together we can make a difference 🙂

Last year my students donated over 500 pairs of socks… Sarah set a goal this year. Lets see if we can meet her goal!
