District Cell phone policy (again)

I still had several students bring their cell phones to class.
Again… Please remind your child that cell phones DO NOT belong in the classroom.  If your child brings a cell phone to school, they should turn it off and put it in their locker until the end of the day.  CELL PHONES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN MY CLASSROOM.

5518 – USE OF CELLULAR PHONES

The Board of Education recognizes that cellular phones can detract from school safety and that it is difficult to manage the use of cell phones in school. The Board acknowledges that the use of cell phones in society is on the increase and that family members increasingly rely on this tool for communication. However, the unrestrained use of cell phones in school, during school hours, can be very disruptive.

With parent/guardian permission only, students are allowed to have cellular phones. Cell phones may be used outside the school building (before the start of the day and after dismissal). Additionally, cell phones may be used with the permission of school staff.

Using or displaying cell phones outside the allowed times and conditions, without staff permission, constitutes a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and may result in disciplinary action.

Parents and students are reminded that the school is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of cell phones.

CINDERELLA stole the LUNCH MONEY at the BUS STOP!

CINDERELLA stole the LUNCH MONEY at the BUS STOP!

We are working on lesson 9 (Adding and Subtractions Decimals) Student just completed through page 89 and we sent over it in class.  Today we also did a “Adding and Subtractions Decimals scavenger hunt” and solved the mystery: CINDERELLA stole the LUNCH MONEY at the BUS STOP!

We will be taking the NWEA test Thursday and Friday and maybe into Monday, depending on students pace.  It is NOT a timed test.

Battle of the Socks Has a Winner!!!

Thank you to all students who brought in socks to donate! As you know, socks are the number one requested items in homeless shelters; your generosity will benefit many people this holiday season.  It was a close and exciting race, but only one class could win… congratulations to the 3rd/4th hour block!  Your class will enjoy a pizza party tomorrow!  All other classes will enjoy a special treat tomorrow, too… stay tuned!

If you want to participate in the gift exchange with your classmates, please bring in a $5-$10 wrapped gift to class tomorrow.
