Lastly, here is the Google Slide Presentation on how to sign in to our optional iLearn video meeting on Thursday at 11:00am. Please review this prior to our video meeting. Students will need to bring a piece of blank paper, pencil, and coloring materials (crayons or colored pencils). We will be doing an activity as a class!

Week at a Glance: 5/10

Flat Happy Mothers Day Card Vector - Download Free Vectors ...

I just wanted to begin this week’s week at a glance by wishing a very happy Mother’s Day to all of those hard-working moms, caregivers, and those women who go above and beyond every day. We couldn’t do it without you.

Listed below is the Week at a Glance for the week.

Now on this week’s Week at a Glance you will notice that I have set up an OPTIONAL virtual meet-up for our class on Thursday at 11:00am. For the past two weeks I have been researching and attending professional development sessions to learn the virtual video chat tool that Dearborn has now approved for teachers to use. The website that we will be using is actually within iLearn. That is the site that has our access to Benchmark Universe. I will be sending out instructions on how to access our virtual chat on Wednesday. If the thought of yet another platform site is overwhelming, please remember that this is an OPTIONAL chat. We will mostly be doing a check-in to see how everyone is doing and it is an opportunity for your student to socialize with our class.

Along with our virtual chat, this week we will be starting our 3 week animal informational report writing. Instead of doing a weekly writing prompt, students will be spending the next three weeks researching an animal of their choice, preparing a Google Slide presentation with their information, and then presenting it to the class. This week we will be focusing on researching and gathering information. Please see Google Classroom for more details.

Lastly, I just wanted to take a moment to say a BIG thank you to everyone who made my teacher appreciation week so special. I was truly moved when I received your digital hug with video messages. I even shed some tears. I’m beyond blessed and lucky that I have such an amazing group of third graders. Everyday apart I miss each one of these kiddos even more. Thank you for making this year extraordinary (and I’m not just talking about this new remote learning thing). 🙂

Thank You Clipart Disney

Teacher Appreciation Week Virtual Style 2020

Please see the message below from the Lindbergh PTA:

Dear Lindbergh Families,

Never in a million years would I have thought we would be where we are today….but we are here.  Hopefully all of you are doing well and your students are surviving the home schooling (as well as you).  I know that this time is an unprecedented one and that on a day to day basis we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.  But the one thing that we do have is Hope.  Hope for a better tomorrow.  At times it is difficult to stay positive but our Lindbergh Families are amazing ones.  I have seen so many acts of love and kindness happening continuously in our community and so many others around the world.  My goal is to continue that for our Teacher Appreciation Week.

Beginning Monday May 6th- May 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week.  This year we are going to improvise and show our teachers how amazing they truly are.  Often times, we take things for granted….life, toilet paper, clorox wipes, leaving the house, smiles, hugs, friends, family….teachers.  We may have always thought they were amazing, but never truly knew the extent, until we walked a day in their shoes.  And we are really only walking a small path compared to the marathon they are running right now to provide our students with an exemplary online schooling opportunity.  It is an opportunity, even though it may be a challenge, because so many do not have the resources or knowledge that our community has been blessed with.

Our goal is to show our staff that even in quarantine, they are amazing and we love and appreciate them.  We want them to know their countless hours and challenges overcome, have not gone unnoticed.  We want them to know that their Lindbergh Community supports them no matter what!!!

Monday through Friday we hope to raffle off at least one donated gift each day.  If anyone has any items they would like to donate please get in touch with me asap.

Schedule May 4th- May 8th

Monday: “How Does Your Teacher Help Fill Your Mind?”  Send in photos of your students, a pic of a letter/art work/drawing….that shows how your teachers fill your minds.

Wednesday: “How Does Your Teacher Fill Your Heart/Soul?”  Send in a photo of your side walk chalk message to our Lindbergh Staff.

Friday:  E- Gift cards will be sent to all of our staff from the PTA to help fill their bellies.  We will share a special slide show for our students.

“How Can WE Fill Your Bellies?”

EMAIL PHOTOS TO Flyerspta@gmail.com

Homeroom Parents typically help guide each individual classroom in different activities/gifts/plans, but this year we realize that many families may be on very limited budgets as well as time constraints with our at home schooling.  It will be up to the HRP’s should they choose to do any type of group gift/activity.  We ask that the safety of all parties involved be taken into consideration, as we maintain social distancing, as well as respecting the privacy of our staff.  Things like an e-gift card can easily be sent via email with the staff emails I will provide.  Photos of hand made items or special letters to teachers can also be sent via email.

Please do not feel limited or obligated during this very difficult time to do anything that your family is not up to.  Our PTA, staff, students and families understand that there are many challenges that vary from family to family and person to person.  Our biggest Hope is that we all remain healthy and safe and are able to return to our Lindbergh Family stronger and more grateful than ever.  Below is a list of names and emails of our Lindbergh Staff for reference.

If you have any questions or need help, please email me at ddoliveriolewis@gmail.com or text at 313-580-8020

Kind Regards, Danielle

Marvelous Monday

Star Wars Day May the 4th Be With You 2019 Memes - StayHipp

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Here are a couple of reminders and announcements for today.

1.Math and reading assignments are now posted in Google Classroom, along with the weekly writing prompt and reading log.

2. Missing Homework Folders were sent out yesterday, with the list of assignments that were missing. Please complete these, since Week 5 will be graded and submitted on their report card.

3. Parents please check your email from an email that was sent out about a Lindbergh family.

4. This week I will be calling to do 1:1 sessions with students, since our virtual meet sessions are postponed. If you would like for me to contact your child, please sign up for a time on the Sign Up Genius below.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0C4FA8AD28A4F49-msrobey1

During this time if there is anything that your child needs help with, please bring it to the phone meeting. I am here to help.

5. Lastly, in case you would like a physical copy of the Math books and Text for Close Reading books (that way you don’t have to print), I have placed your child’s math books and the text for close reading books at Lindbergh’s Resource Pick-Up station. This week Lindbergh will be having a time where parents can pick up resources for their students. Please see the note below from Mrs. Tiba in regards to how this process will work.

Dear Parents,

This week we will be offering a pick-up of some instructional material your child’s teacher has prepared.  The prepared material will vary from class to class and your child’s teacher will let you know what you will need to pick up, if anything. To avoid large crowds and provide an opportunity for families with multiple children, the pick up will happen based on the first letter of your last name.

On Tuesday, May 5 from 1-3 pm, the pick-up will be for families whose last name starts with the letter A-M.  And on Wednesday, May 6 from 1-3 pm, will be for families whose last name starts with N-Z.  The materials will be set up on the South playground (where K-2 lineup).

The material will be placed on carts by grade level and teacher name. We ask that parents come alone with a mask, stand in line until they are asked to come forward and collect their children’s materials from the carts.  We kindly request that you just grab the top book and do not shuffle through them and as always practice safe distancing.  There will be cones and tape on the floor to also help guide the flow.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Stay safe,

Ms. Tiba

Along with our usual routine, I have decided to create a Sign-Up Genius to start doing 1 on 1 meetings with your child (since Google Meet has been placed on hold). Ms. Robey Check-In

Good Morning,

I hope you are having a great start to your day! Remember to keep checking our Google Classroom for assignments. We will be only using Google Classroom for assignments for the rest of the year.

This morning I sent parent emails about joining our Google Classroom as a guardian. With this email you will need to confirm your sign up for Google Classroom Guardian Summaries. The summaries are sent via email on Friday’s-stating the assignments posted for the week. It does not list what was completed or still missing. With that, I will send continue sending out the missing homework folders on Friday. I will begin grading these assignments now as well. Students are graded on effort, and participation. I will comment/feedback on their Google Classroom assignments. This takes some time, so bear with me on giving feedback for each assignment. Thank you.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you our next chapter of Matilda. Please watch the video below for our read aloud.

Have a great day!

Magic Monday!

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful start to our week.

I do apologize for the delay of assignments today. I have been busy at work attempting to learn a new video conferencing platform, and had a couple of training to attend. As of right now, both of the reading and math lessons have been uploaded. Don’t forget that you can always work at your own pace! If the video lesson is too long for your student, take a break! It will always be there when you get back.

If you have any questions or issues with assignments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me during my scheduled office hours. My office hours can be found in the week at a glance that was posted on Sunday.

Since this is the start to a new week, I wanted to take a moment to share with you our Leader in Me habit for the week: Find your voice! It is all about how can we use your talents, strengths, and passion to help the world around you. I highly encourage you to try and find your voice and inspire others this week! Watch this great video to get inspired to find your voice!

Lastly, I wanted to share with you a little piece of Magic since it is Magic Monday. This video may provide a little bit of entertainment for your little ones and I know it gives me a smile! Feel free to watch with your loved ones!

Week at a Glance for the Week of 4/26

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Before we begin, I just want to say Ramadan Mubarak to those who are celebrating this month!

For this week at a glance we have a couple of updates and new information to share. I do apologize if this blog post is slightly longer than normal !

  1. Based upon events at the middle school level, Dearborn has decided that classrooms are not allowed to use Google Meets until further notice. You can read more about this on Dr. Malyeko’s superintendent blog below: https://superintendent.dearbornschools.org/2020/04/24/students1stdbnschs-message-to-the-students-parents-and-community-regarding-online-learning/
  2. So as a result, the third-grade team over the weekend have begun trying to learn a new live platform the district is permitting teachers to use with students. We are currently still trying to learn and practice this individually to see if it will be a feasible platform and user friendly for all families (if it is too hard we may come up with an alternative plan). This new platform will only be used for LIVE (synchronous) sessions. All assignments will continue to be posted in Google Classroom, business as usual.

3. Later in the week, I will begin signing parents up for Google Classroom Guardian Summaries. The summaries are sent via email on Friday’s-stating the assignments posted for the week. It does not list what was completed or still missing. With that, I will send you each an email with the Missing Homework Folder on Friday of all work completion from the previous week. I will begin grading these assignments now as well. Students are graded on effort and participation. I will comment/feedback on their Google Classroom assignments. This takes some time, so bear with me on giving feedback for each assignment. Thank you.

4. Attached is the week at a glance. Please let me know if you have any questions:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uQg3viZCbBTbZySOTeLQSglpf0iCGoglf6Ha4p-0wJw/edit?usp=sharing

Don’t forget Special Area teachers post assignments as well.

Please note: Located on the Week at a Glance are my office hours, which are by appointment only. This means, I can answer individual questions and/or to help students with coursework.

5. Lastly, I wanted to share with you the amazing assembly line examples I received last week. I was blown away at the amount of creativity that I saw. Keep up the great work!

Have a beautiful Sunday!!
