Extra Science Fun

This week’s lesson on forces was about the force of magnetism. Your child got to spend time observing and discovering some of the basic properties of magnets!

One fun thing you can do together with your child is to explore this printable chart featuring wonderful household uses for magnets (see link below). This reinforces this week’s learning and also models how engineers or inventors think, something we’re doing more frequently in science class.

Study Guide Information and Help

Good Afternoon Parents,

Today I created a new tab on our web page for Mystery Science Videos and help. On that web page you will find the links to the mystery science videos that review some of the concepts and go over the experiments we did in class. Feel free to watch at home and even try some of the experiments if you would like. This would also be a great tool to use for studying.

In addition, today the math study guide went home. Our math test is tentatively scheduled for Monday.  Please work with your child on the study guide and please return the study guide to class on Friday. We will be going over problems in class that day.

Thank you so much once again!

Notice From the Office

Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

Please see the attached letter below from the main office today. We have had a case of Head Lice identified in our classroom. The letter requests that as a precaution that you please check your child for lice and report any cases to our school office. The letter also goes over what Lice is and some of the procedures that you should follow.

Thank you!

Eureka Math Student Book ONLINE/ Tonight’s H.W. Help

Due to popular demand, I have now updated a new tab on our blog. Underneath Math Help you will find a link to the student homework book. This will be extremely helpful if your child has accidentally forgotten to rip out the page out of our book, or if your child is absent! In addition, I have also posted the parent help sheet for each module underneath that tab. Lastly, you will find a link to Khan Academy. This will have additional videos to help you that are different from what I post on our main web page.

Today your child learned how to use the distributive property to decompose larger problems using division. Listed below is the YouTube video that covers what we taught. Feel free to use it!
