I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend getting those last few moments of summer! This week in third grade we will be kicking off a new math curriculum, testing to see where students are at, and diving into other content areas.
Today your child received our first ever reading log. Please have your child read any book that they want and document the title and amount of minutes they read. We aim to have students read every night at home for 20 minutes. This will help them become better readers. Since we did not have school on Monday, feel free to cross off Monday on the reading log! On Friday, students will be expected to turn in their reading log signed. Please do not sign your child’s reading log until the end of the week please! This will help make sure students are reading throughout the entire week.
Listed below are the content areas and some of the items we will be tackling this week:
Reading: Reading good fit books, Read to Self expectations, voracious reading, and check for understanding strategies.
Writing: All-About Me Newspapers
Social Studies: Geography of Michigan. Discussing relative vs absolute location of Michigan.
