I just wanted to begin this week’s week at a glance by wishing a very happy Mother’s Day to all of those hard-working moms, caregivers, and those women who go above and beyond every day. We couldn’t do it without you.

Now on this week’s Week at a Glance you will notice that I have set up an OPTIONAL virtual meet-up for our class on Thursday at 11:00am. For the past two weeks I have been researching and attending professional development sessions to learn the virtual video chat tool that Dearborn has now approved for teachers to use. The website that we will be using is actually within iLearn. That is the site that has our access to Benchmark Universe. I will be sending out instructions on how to access our virtual chat on Wednesday. If the thought of yet another platform site is overwhelming, please remember that this is an OPTIONAL chat. We will mostly be doing a check-in to see how everyone is doing and it is an opportunity for your student to socialize with our class.
Along with our virtual chat, this week we will be starting our 3 week animal informational report writing. Instead of doing a weekly writing prompt, students will be spending the next three weeks researching an animal of their choice, preparing a Google Slide presentation with their information, and then presenting it to the class. This week we will be focusing on researching and gathering information. Please see Google Classroom for more details.
Lastly, I just wanted to take a moment to say a BIG thank you to everyone who made my teacher appreciation week so special. I was truly moved when I received your digital hug with video messages. I even shed some tears. I’m beyond blessed and lucky that I have such an amazing group of third graders. Everyday apart I miss each one of these kiddos even more. Thank you for making this year extraordinary (and I’m not just talking about this new remote learning thing). 🙂
