Week at a Glance for the Week of 4/26

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Before we begin, I just want to say Ramadan Mubarak to those who are celebrating this month!

For this week at a glance we have a couple of updates and new information to share. I do apologize if this blog post is slightly longer than normal !

  1. Based upon events at the middle school level, Dearborn has decided that classrooms are not allowed to use Google Meets until further notice. You can read more about this on Dr. Malyeko’s superintendent blog below: https://superintendent.dearbornschools.org/2020/04/24/students1stdbnschs-message-to-the-students-parents-and-community-regarding-online-learning/
  2. So as a result, the third-grade team over the weekend have begun trying to learn a new live platform the district is permitting teachers to use with students. We are currently still trying to learn and practice this individually to see if it will be a feasible platform and user friendly for all families (if it is too hard we may come up with an alternative plan). This new platform will only be used for LIVE (synchronous) sessions. All assignments will continue to be posted in Google Classroom, business as usual.

3. Later in the week, I will begin signing parents up for Google Classroom Guardian Summaries. The summaries are sent via email on Friday’s-stating the assignments posted for the week. It does not list what was completed or still missing. With that, I will send you each an email with the Missing Homework Folder on Friday of all work completion from the previous week. I will begin grading these assignments now as well. Students are graded on effort and participation. I will comment/feedback on their Google Classroom assignments. This takes some time, so bear with me on giving feedback for each assignment. Thank you.

Don’t forget Special Area teachers post assignments as well.

Please note: Located on the Week at a Glance are my office hours, which are by appointment only. This means, I can answer individual questions and/or to help students with coursework.

5. Lastly, I wanted to share with you the amazing assembly line examples I received last week. I was blown away at the amount of creativity that I saw. Keep up the great work!
