For today’s lesson, our objective is to relate side lengths with the number of tiles on a side to identify the area. Concept Development:
Remember that today’s learning target is all about how we count the sides of tiles to identify the length of that tile. This strategy will help us recall the area of a shape. Since if we don’t have square units inside the shape, we could always use the math formula Length X Width = area (in square units). We can find the length and the width by counting the length of the tiles.
