Weekly Update for the Week of 2/3

Happy February! I hope you are ready to kick of February with some extra kindness and love! Our Mid-Year assessments are finally wrapped up and we are excited to share with you our progress. Over the next week, you will receive your child’s data for their NWEA and your child will be creating new lead measures to help them work towards their next goal.

Due to many students being sick last week, we actually postponed our spelling test last week. This week we will continue spelling with last weeks words. This Friday, students will take their spelling test to assess their knowledge of the words. I have begun setting up spelling lists on Spellingcity. Feel free to use this resource to practice spelling:

Along with testing, I just wanted to give out a quick thank you for those parents who helped donate items for our Michigan Birthday Breakfast. The students had such a fun time celebrating Michigan’s big day.

This month is relatively short, but is also filled with many activities. Please make sure to keep up to date with the blog with all of the events that we have planned.

Listed below you will find the content we will be addressing this week and upcoming events for the next two weeks.

Science- This week in science we will explore the mystery, “Why are some places always hot?” We will learn about the idea of ‘climate’–that in every place on earth, the weather tends to act a certain way over the year. Your child will learn how there are five basic climate zones: polar, temperate, mild, desert, and tropical. You can continue to support your child’s curiosity by talking about a friend or family member who lives in a different climate, and discussing how that climate affects their life. Or look for aspects of our local environment which show what kind of climate we live in.
