Weekly Update for the Week of 04/15

Spring is in the air this week, with our shortened week due to the Easter holiday. I do apologize for being a little late with this week’s post about our current events. Please make sure to keep working on your child’s lead measures at home. Our end of year assessments are quickly approaching and our lead measures help us make sure that we are reaching our W.I.G.S (Wildly, Important, Goals) by the end of the year. If you have any questions about your child’s lead measures, feel free to reach out to me.

Reading- Wrapping up main idea and details, nonfiction text features, and M-STEP practice assessments for ELA.

Writing- Text Dependent Analysis writing and narrative writing

Social Studies- Opportunity cost, scarcity, choice, and Michigan’s economy today.

Science-

This week, we will learn how living in groups helps many animals survive, including wolves, meerkats, ravens, and ants!

You can support your child’s curiosity at home! Look for different kinds of animals near your home, and ask your child your child for each kind of animal, “Do you think it lives in a group? How do you think living in a group helps it survive?”

Math- Discussing fractions on a number line and how to place them. Mid-Module assessment for module 5 was given on Monday. Keep a watch for that assessment coming back!

Spelling- No spelling this week

Leader in Me- “I Messages”- The second part of Habit 5 is “Then to be Understood.” Giving feedback is an important part of seeking to be understood. Leaders know there are two things to consider when giving feedback. First, the feedback should be in the other person’s best interest. Second, “I” messages are less threatening, so people are more willing to listen. Make sure to ask your child what an “I” message is.

Upcoming Events

Wednesday- Team Sports

Thursday- Leader in Me Lighthouse Review (please have your child wear a Lindbergh shirt) and ELG tutoring

Friday- No School
