Bellwork reviewed solving equations with fractions and variables on both sides.

Hwk #10 is due today.

The remainder of the period we discussed solving equations when all variable terms cancel out (Sec 2-4).

Hwk #11 is due on Thursday. Sec 2-4
Pages 98-99
Problems 2, 10, 15-18, 29-32

Bellwork showed students how to eliminate denominators in an equation having several fractions. This makes the equation easier to solve.

The remainder of the period we finished Sec 2-3 by practicing solving equations with “many” fractions. We then began discussing Sec 2-4 which is solving equations that have variables on both sides of the equal sign.

Hwk #10 is due tomorrow. Sec 2-3

Bellwork reviewed solving equations and modeling real-life situations with an equation and solving to find missing values.

The remainder of the period we discussed solving multi-step equations (Sec 2-3).

Hwk #9 is due on Thursday. Sec 2-3
Pages 91-93
Problems 8, 10, 14, 16, 40, 51, 54, 57

Monday, October 12, 2015

Bellwork reviewed solving 1 and 2 step equations.
Hwk #8 is due today

Students took an equation solving quiz.

The remainder of the period we continued discussing solving 2-step equations. Students also modeled real-life situations with equations and solved to find missing quantities.

Hwk #9 is due on Thursday. Sec 2-3
Pages 91-93
Problems 8, 10, 14, 16, 40, 51, 54, 57

Friday, October 9, 2015

Bellwork asked students to solve some 1 and 2-step equations.
Hwk #7 is due today.

Students took a quiz over solving 1-step equations.

After the quiz students worked on a skill that will be used later this year but if they are introduced to it now and practice it each week it will be easier to apply in later chapters.

We then discussed Sec 2-2 which is solving 2-step equations.

Hwk #8 is due on Monday (Sec 2-2).
Pages 84-85. Problems 14, 15, 17-20, 40, 45, 46, 61.
