Write to the Dog Named Danny
With all of the texting and social media that is available today I feel that we’re losing opportunities to engage in good old fashioned writing. We all know that writing needs to be authentic in order to be meaningful but who can we have our children write to? A great way to ensure that writing is authentic is to encourage children to write letters to family members, friends and even celebrities.
Speaking of celebrities, there is a popular series of books about a dog named Danny. (see www.maryruthbooks.com for more information). I just discovered that Danny the dog will “write” a letter back if you write to him. What a great opportunity for authentic writing!

As a proud education partner of the local Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), we are excited to announce that YEA! is now accepting applications from the students of our school for their upcoming class! YEA! also encourages the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of our employees to apply as well. YEA! is a national, non-profit organization that teaches and empowers students ages 11 to 18 to launch and run their own, real, small businesses through an exciting, projects-based program.
The ultimate goal of this organization is to encourage entrepreneurial education and action at a young age, as well as provide students with the opportunity to compete for college scholarships at the National YEA!
