Daily Blog for June 26, 2020

I sent individual emails to you and your parents yesterday regarding the missing assignments that you have over the first two weeks. So far, every one of you has at least one missing assignment. I know the assignments for the second week are still not officially due until Monday. However, I have already put in zeros for these grades until you submit these assignments. The zeros will go away and will be replaced by the score you earn (hopefully a 10). After Monday at 12 Noon, all assignments submitted late will be marked down. The maximum score that you will be able to receive for a late assignment will be 7/10 unless you have a valid reason for submitting an assignment late. The fact of the matter is that these assignments for the first two weeks should not take you very long to complete. There are two Quizizz assignments for each class, and the remaining assignments can be done on paper. For the paper assignments, you simply need to write down all of the work, explanations, and answers on the printed off page (or on a separate sheet of paper), take a digital picture of the completed work, and submit it through Google Classroom or send it to me as an email attachment. You can also upload the assignment into Dochub or Google Docs and submit it to me that way. Please just make sure it is clear which assignment you are submitting!

On Monday, June 29, at 12 Noon, I would like to try to hold a virtual video meeting with all of you. You will get 5 points for simply attending. For this virtual meeting, we will be using “Big Blue Button” (BBB). To use BBB, we must have an I-Learn class. I have set up an I-Learn class for Summer School Geometry. It is called Geo Summer 20. The class code to enroll in my course is: ut8njy. Please enroll in this I-Learn course. At 12:00 pm on Monday, log into this course and you should see a place to join the virtual meeting for this class. Honestly, this will be the first time that I have set up a virtual meeting through I-Learn and BBB. Therefore, I will be monitoring my email as well during this time. If you are having a difficult time entering the virtual meeting, then please email me immediately! We will try to work things out. The purpose of this meeting is to touch base with all of you, actually try to see you, and go over everything that we have done over the first two weeks, and also introduce what I will be posting for the third week. Once again, you will get 5 points for enrolling in I-Learn and joining the meeting. If this time does not work for you, then we will set up an alternative meeting time for you. Please let me know by email if you need a different time.

I appreciate your cooperation in enrolling into different learning platforms and trying new learning techniques. Please get your missing work into me as soon as possible. Have a great weekend! I look forward to receiving assignments from you and hearing from you soon!

I am hoping that you are all doing well! We are almost through our second week! Please look at the assignments which are due for this week, especially the Quizizz assignment because the link for that assignment will expire. There are still many of you who have missing assignments from last week too! It is critical that we make up this work as soon as possible. I have made phone calls home and left messages to try to inform your parents of this missing work. Please email me with any questions or concerns that you have about any assignments or anything at all related to my Summer School class. Remember, I am here to help you get your credit for Geometry, but I cannot give you a passing grade if you choose not to do the required work. We can do this! Please start turning in these assignments!

It looks to be another beautiful day! I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy! I am still very concerned that many of you are not completing your work! There were three assignments that were due last week, and there are three assignments due for the Semester 2 class and four assignments due for the Semester 1 class this week. Even though the Sem 1 class has one more assignment due, the workload is still about the same. I highly encourage all of you to watch all of the videos that I have posted. These videos will make completing your assignments much easier!

Daily Blog for June 23, 2020

Today, I have posted the guided notes for all of the material that we will be learning this week in Geometry. I will also be posting screencastify videos for each of these pages of guided notes. In these videos, I will actually try to teach you the main concepts of the lessons we are trying to learn this week. Please watch these videos and use them to fill out the guided notes pages. These notes should help you on the assignments which are posted this week. I will also be making screencastify videos for each of the paper assignments. In these videos, I will actually solve each problem and I will explain the process along the way. All you need to do is print off the assignment page, show all of the work, explanations, and answers for each problem, take a digital picture of the completed work that is clear and easy for me to follow, and then submit your pictures into Google Classroom or send them as an email attachment.

There are still quite a few assignments which have not been turned in for the first week of Summer School. Please complete all missing assignments from the first week and submit them to me as soon as you can. I will be contacting students (and their parents) individually if you have any missing work. I will also be informing Mr. Baydoun of students who are falling behind in their work. Please reach out to me through email to let me know of any questions, concerns, or problems that you are having with anything involving my class. I truly want everyone to be successful, get a good grade, and earn their credit for this class.

It is the start of the second week of Summer School already! I have been busy this morning developing new lessons and assignments for this week. All of these guided notes, screencastify videos, and new assignments will be posted later today or tomorrow at the latest. I will provide videos to explain each of the paper assignments. I am still very concerned that many of the assignments from the first week were not submitted by many of you. I will be contacting you individually if you are not keeping up with your work. For Semester 2, I have reassigned the first Quizizz assignment (RL3) to give you more time to complete it. Please complete assignments RL1, RL2, and RL3 as soon as you can (Today if at all possible)!

I am very pleased that almost all of you have enrolled in Google Classroom. I will be awarding 5 points for joining my Google Classroom class, so that will be the first points entered into MiStar. There are three assignments posted for this week. All of these assignments are due by Monday, June 22. The links for the Quizizz assignment will expire by June 22, so you must have this assignment completed by then or you will not receive a score for it. The other two assignments each have screencastify videos posted after them. These videos will show you exactly how to do each problem. Please print off the assignment, write down all of the work and answers for each problem, take a picture of the completed work, and send it to me through Google Classroom or as an email attachment. Some students also submit their work through Dochub or Google Docs.
