Daily Blog for 12/4/2020

Students,

I just wanted to remind everyone that we are going to have our unit test today for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours during our Zoom meetings.  Please do not be late for these Zoom meetings.  The test for 1st and 2nd Hours will be on Monday.  I encourage you all to organize your notebooks so that you have all of the formulas, theorems, postulates, and definitions that you need.  I also have “open office hours” available today until 11:00am if you need to come and get some help in preparation for these tests today.

I also updated all of the grades this morning.  Please check Student Connect to see exactly which assignments and/or quizzes that you are missing.  I would love to help you get caught up on completing these missing assignments and quizzes.  Once again, “open office hours” would be a great way to get help on this work.

I look forward to seeing most of you later today!  I hope that you all do well on your tests!

Students,

Welcome back!  I hope that all of you had a very good Thanksgiving break with your family!

Today is “B” day.  Therefore, we will have our scheduled Zoom meetings for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours this afternoon.  I will also have my “open office hours” available today from 8:15am to 10:30am.  I encourage all of you to login to my “open office hours” to get help for anything related to my class.  I updated all grades late yesterday, so please check your grades in Student Connect to see if you are missing any assignments or quizzes.  We are finishing up our current unit in all classes this week, so there will be a unit exam on Friday of this week for 4th, 5th and 6th Hours.  The unit exam will be on Monday, Dec 7, for 1st and 2nd Hours.  We will have large review assignments this week to prepare for these exams.  Please be ready to participate in class discussions during our Zoom meetings as we go over all of the material for these units.

We only have about 5 weeks left in the semester.  There are three weeks left until the Christmas break, and then there will be two weeks left after the first of the year.  It is very important to make up all missing work now, so that we can finish on a strong note!  I look forward to seeing all of you today or tomorrow!

Students,

I have updated the grades over the weekend.  There are many students who have missing assignments and quizzes.  It is very impoertant that we get these missing assignments and quizzes made up as soon as possible.  Remember that the quizzes are summative grades, so you do not want to have zeros on lesson quizzes.  During our last Zoom meeting, we took the time to go over the last assignment in class.  I also posted videos for this assignment in Schoology.  In fact, I have posted videos for all of our recent assignments in Schoology.  All you need to do is watch the videos and complete the assignments in Envision.  It should not take you very long.  We also took the time to discuss all of the problems on the last quiz which was only 5 problems.  I am disappointed that many people still have not completed these quizzes and assignments.  You should try to do them when the problems are fresh in your mind.

If you are having any trouble understanding any of this material on these assignments or quizzes, then please come to my “open office hours” Zoom meeting today or tomorrow.  I will open up my “open office hours” Zoom meeting both today and tomorrow from 8:15am – 10:30am.  I would love to help you with anything math related.

This is a very short week.  Today is “B” day, so we will have Zoom meetings for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours this afternoon.  We will have Zoom meetings tomorrow (“A” day) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Hours.  Please make sure that you attend your scheduled Zoom meeting on time.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our next Zoom meeting or at office hours.  I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Please stay safe and healthy!

Students and Parents,

Good morning!  I hope that you all had a very nice weekend even though it was cold and rainy.  I also know that many people are now without power due to the high winds this weekend.  If you have lost power and will be unable to log in to a Zoom meeting, then please try to let me know through your cell phone if possible.  I will mark the attendance as “technical difficulties” for students who cannot attend due to power outages.  I have also posted videos in Schoology about everything that will be discussed in class today, so once your power comes back on, then you should be able to see exactly what you may have missed in the Zoom meeting.  A reminder that today is “A” day according to the schedule, so we will have Zoom meetings this afternoon for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Hours at the scheduled times.

For any parent that would like to schedule a parent-teacher conference with me, I have some time available this afternoon/evening from 3:00pm – 7:00pm in addition to the actual conference day that was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 3:30pm – 7:00pm.  Please email me with the time and day that you would like to meet with me, and I will try to arrange a Zoom meeting with you.  To access the Zoom meeting for parent-teacher conferences, I have included a link at the top of your student’s Schoology page for my class.  If a Zoom meeting is not possible, then please leave your name and phone number and the best time to call and I will try to place a phone call at that time to conduct this conference.

A reminder to all students that I do have my “open office hours” Zoom meeting available today from 8:15am – 10:30am.  Please come to see me if you need help with any math assignment.

I look forward to having a great week!  I hope all of you stay safe and healthy!

I enjoyed getting to meet with some parents during parent-teacher conferences over the last few days. We will also have more opportunities for parent-teacher conferences next week.
