It is a “Snow Day!” Only in April in Michigan can we experience 60 – 70 degree weather and then 3 inches of snow on the ground. I hope that you are all doing well!

A lot is happening with the school district. New remote learning guidelines are being put into place. The teachers have had many virtual meetings over the past week to try to figure out how we are supposed to move forward. You will be sent many new communications from the school and the district as to what to expect in terms of grades and expectations from teachers and students. I will be giving much more information in the coming days. Please plan for a Google Meets virtual meeting with me on Tuesday of next week. I am vey much a rookie at setting up virtual meetings, so please bear with me on this.

Today, I just posted 5 new videos for the Geometry classes, and 7 new videos for my Algebra 2 ASAP class. I hope these videos will be very helpful to you as you try to complete the online assignments. Please email me with any questions or concerns that you have. Have a great weekend! I am very much looking forward to seeing most of you (virtually) on Tuesday!

Hello everyone! Yesterday the Edsel Ford staff had a large virtual meeting. Many changes are coming to the remote learning process. The school will be sending our more information very soon. However, there will be new guidelines for grades and participation requirements. There will also be a schedule that all students will follow starting next week. Right now, it looks like Tuesdays will be “Math Days” in the schedule. Each week, I will set up a Google Hangouts meeting where you can all join and we can meet virtually face to face about anything Geometry related. I am still learning how to set this up, but I look forward to actually seeing you all again! Once again more information will follow. Please keep reading my Blog each day for more information. I realized that I did not send out a Blog for yesterday. I am sorry about that. I will definitely try to post a Blog each day moving forward.

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope that all of you are healthy and doing well. I honestly miss all of you very much!

Please go into Google Classroom and check to see what has been added this week. For my Geometry classes, I have added one new assessment (which may end up being a summative grade), two pages of guided notes for circles (10-6 and 10-7), three videos leading you through the guided notes of these sections, and two new assignments about circles (Circumference WS and Area of Circles WS). The two assignments and the assessment will be graded and added into the gradebook. These assignments are due by Friday, 4/17/2020. I will not be making a video for the assessment because I want to see if you know how to do these problems on your own. Later in the week I will make some videos on the two assignments. However, please do not wait for these videos to be posted. You should try to finish them on your own.

Remember, now that it has been determined that we will not be physically in school for the remainder of the year, the online learning assignments will count toward your final overall grade. The teachers have also been asked to continue contacting Seniors who are not passing the class currently, or are very close to failing a required class. We need to develop a plan to help you get back on track toward graduating. If you do not stay in contact with me, then Mr. Naimi (Graduation Specialist) will be contacting you. It is critical that we all do this online work in order to complete the learning outcomes for this course.

Happy Good Friday to those Christian students who are celebrating Holy Week and Easter. I hope that you are all having a good Spring Break!

We have received word from the state and governor that our online learning days “will count” and that all online and distance learning assignments can and should be used to determine the grades for each student. They have made it clear that the grades and credit given must reflect the learning of each student. In other words, you must provide evidence of learning through completed assignments and online assessments. To make a long story short, it is very important to maintain the learning requirements in each of your classes and stay in contact with your teacher. I will be assigning new work this week, and I will be in contact with you almost every day through email. There may be some times when we set up online video chats through Google Hangouts or Zoom. Please just try to do your very best on everything and ask questions when you are not sure about something. Believe me, I am learning as much (if not more) than all of you are. Have a great weekend!

I hope that you are all having a good week! I continue to grade assignments as you send them to me. Many of you are doing a GREAT JOB! However some of you are falling behind. Please try to stay caught up on all of the work that I have assigned online. This is also a great time to back and make-up any missing assignments that you had before the shutdown. Remember that next week I will be adding some new assignments and an assessment from the Right Triangles Unit to see how well we have been learning the material. In my Algebra 1 ASAP class, I just added seven new videos to show you how to solve formulas and literal equations for a given variable. Please email me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Have a great rest of the week!

I hope that you are all having a good Spring Break! It is going to be a great day weather-wise, so get outside and enjoy it if you can.

I just updated all of the grades from my Geometry classes. Many of you did not turn in the last three assignments from last week. I made about 5 videos for each of these assignments to show you how to do each problem. Please take the time and watch those videos, write out the work for each of these assignments and submit them to me this week. Next week I will be uploading new assignments and an assessment from the past unit, so I don;t want you to fall too far behind. This is also a great time to join the Geometry (Assignments prior to shutdown) class to make up any missing assignments, quizzes, or tests that you had prior to this shutdown. There will be an overall plan from the district and state which will require these online assignments to count in some way. Please get caught up and finish everything you! Email me with any questions or concerns that you are having. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Spring Break! I know that this year Spring Break is certainly not what we are used to or wanted it to be. However, I hope that you all use this time to relax and enjoy family and friends close to you. It looks like it will be another very nice day outside today, so please get outside and enjoy the good weather. Because it is Spring Break, I will not be adding any new assignments for any of my classes. I will be helping anyone who would like to to use this opportunity to get caught up on any work that they missed. This is a great time to make sure that all missing assignments, tests, and quizzes are completed.

Daily Blog for 4/4/2020

Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a decent Saturday afternoon. Today, I was able to do one of those drive-by birthday wishes for two of my nieces. My sister has two daughters that had birthdays this week. We piled into our car and drove out to their house to wish them a Happy Birthday in person. It was nice to be able to see them and speak to them from our car for a few minutes. I hope that you are able to make connections to family members or friends during this time. Maybe you are able to “face-time” or maybe you can walk past their house. I encourage you all to let the people in your life know that you care about them and are thinking about them. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Daily Blog for 4/3/2020

What a beautiful day it is to be outside today! I highly encourage you to get outside a little bit if you can.

I have been very busy for the Geometry classes. I had made 10 new screencastify videos for the two review assignments. Please take the time to watch these videos because I try to show you every specific step necessary to solve each of these problems. On the 5th video for the I can review assignment, I do make a mistake on my work. I do point out the mistake in the video. I think it is good to learn from mistakes, so I left the mistake in the video. I hope that it doesn’t confuse you. Please take the time to write out all problems on a separate sheet of paper and make a drawing for each problem while showing all steps necessary. After you complete each assignment, then take a picture and send them to me.

Since next week is our Spring Break, I will not be adding any new assignments during the week. However, I will still be accepting any assignments that you need to finish from the last few weeks, and also any assignments quizzes or tests that you missed prior to the shutdown. I want to remind all of you that I do have another Geometry class which is called Geometry (Assignments Prior to Shutdown). The class code for that class is: gpp4xd5

I will continue to send a Blog each day and pass along information to you as I get it. Have great weekend!

Daily Blog for 4/2/2020

Well it seems like today will be a very nice day weather-wise! Get outside and take a walk or ride a bike! Try to do something to relax and have fun. For the Geometry classes, I will be trying to make some screencastify videos later today on the assignments from this week. Since next week is our official Spring break, I will not be adding any new assignments next week. However, you can continue to work on any assignment that you have not completed to this point. This would include any of the assignments that we had previous to the shutdown. All of the assignments prior to the shutdown are posted on the Google Classroom class called: Geometry (Assignments prior to shutdown) The class code is: gpp4xd5. Now is a great opportunity to get yourselves caught up on everything!

We anticipate an announcement from the Governor today about the remainder of the school year. Even if the schools are physically closed for the rest of the school year, the chances are very good that they will decide on some method for “counting” all of the work that is done during this time. It is most definitely in your best interest to complete all work. For the Seniors especially, you want to make sure that you do enough to pass each class to get your credit.

I hope you all have a great day today! I will pass on information when I hear more.
