Daily Blog for 3/5/2021

Students,

Earlier today Envision went down and we were unable to access it.  It seems to be working again right now.  I apologize for the inconvenience.  Please go back into Envision to access your assignments that are due on Monday.  Have a great weekend!

Students,

First of all, I want to wish you all a safe and relaxing Winter break!  I hope that all of you can relax and enjoy yourselves over the long weekend.  This is a great opportunity for many of you to get caught up on any work that you are missing for my class.  It is especially important that you complete all of the summative quizzes that we have had so far.  I have just updated all of the grades in MiStar.  Please check Student Connect to see exactly what you are missing.  Please email me to let me know when you make-up any of your missing work.  Tuesday will be an asynchronous learning day.  Please use this time to complete all of you work.  I will see you on Wednesday during our next scheduled Zoom meeting.

Students,

Welcome to the third week of the second semester!  We have a shorter week this week because we have a long weekend for MidWinter Break.  The district has also decided to make Thursday an asynchronous learning day on Thursday so that staff members can receive Covid vaccinations.

Firstr hour students, the district is asking that everyone changes their passwords today.  We will be doing that during First Hour today.  If you somehow miss your 1st Hour class, then you will need to change your password.  Please make sure that you write down your new password, so you can access your account.

We will follow the same schedule that we have this semester.  I look forward to seeing all of you at our scheduled Zoom meetings today!  I hope that you all have a great week!

Students,

I hope that you all had a great weekend!  It is hard to believe that we are already through the month of January and starting the month of February today!  This will be our second full week of the new semester.  I updated grades over the weekend, and I will quickly update them again today.  Some of you have not completed some (or in some cases any) of the assignments and quizzes so far.  The lesson quizzes will be summative grades so it is especially important that you complete all of the lesson quizzes.  If you do not do well on any of the quizzes, then you have the option of completing a retake for that quiz.  You need to let me know, so that I can reassign the quiz for you in Envision.

I want to encourage all of you to come to office hours later this afternoon if you need help on any assignment or quiz.  I want to make sure that you receive the help you need all along the way, not just at the end of the semester.

Here is our schedule for the week and all days moving forward:

  • 1st Hour:  8:00am to 8:40am
  • 2nd Hour:  8:45am to 9:25am
  • 3rd Hour:  9:40am to 10:20am
  • 4th Hour:  10:25am to 11:05am
  • 5th Hour:  11:35am to 12:15pm
  • 6th Hour:  12:20pm to 1:00pm
  • Office Hours:  1:40pm to 3:00pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)

I hope everyone has a great week!  Please communicate with me if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to my class.  I will see you all later today at your scheduled Zoom meeting!

Students,

Good morning!  Today is our first full day of the second semester.  I want to remind everyone that we have Zoom meetings for all classes every day while we are in online learning mode.  You can access each Zoom meeting using the link found at the top of our class page in Scoology.  The link for “open office hours” is also located in Schoology.  Here is the schedule that we will follow moving forward:

  • 1st Hour:  8:00am to 8:40am
  • 2nd Hour:  8:45am to 9:20am
  • 3rd Hour:  9:40am to 10:20am
  • 4th Hour:  10:25am to 11:05am
  • 5th Hour:  11:35am to 12:15pm
  • 6th Hour:  12:20pm to 1:00pm
  • Open Office Hours:  1:45pm to 2:55pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)

Since we only have 40 minutes for each Zoom session, it is very important to log in on time.

I am sorry for any confusion yesterday when I sent out an email for 5th Hour that was sent to multiple classes by mistake.  Please disregard that email if you are not part of my 5th Hour class.

I look forward to seeing all of you today at our next Zoom meeting!

Daily Blog for 1/25/2021

Students,

It is the beginning of the new semester.  We will have a half-day schedule for Monday and Tuesday.  On Monday, 1/25/2021, we will have Zoom meetings for 1st Hour at 8:00am, 2nd Hour at 9:05am, and 3rd Hour at 10:10am.  On Tuesday, 1/26/2021, we will follow a similar schedule for 4th Hour (8:00am), 5th Hour(9:05am), and 6th Hour (10:10am).

Your new Schoology classes for the second semester have already been set up and all of you are already enrolled for my class in Schoology as well as Envision.  The Zoom links are once again at the top of the page in Schoology.  Use the Zoom llink is Schoology to access our Zoom meetings each day.

For my Geometry classes, I have already posted the workbook pages for the first section (6-1) in Schoology, and I have made 8 videos explaining this section. For Algebra 1, I will make sure everything is posted by Tuesday.

This semester I will be grading the workbook pages that we will complete in class each day.  Therefore, if you did not receive a workbook at the beginning of the school year, then you will need to get one.  Please let me know if you need a workbook, so we can make arrangements for you to pick one up from the office.  Please stay on top of the work assigned each day throughout the semester.  Please let me know if you have any issues accessing my class in either Schoology or Envision (Savvas EasyBridge).  I hope that all of you have a tremendous semester!

Students,

Today will be a half day.  We will have Zoom meetings for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours this morning.  The 4th Hour Zoom meeting will begin at 8:15am.  The 5th Hour Zoom meeting will start at 9:20am.  The 6th Hour Zoom meeting will begin at 10:25am.  This will be our last Zoom meeting for the semester.  Everyone is expected to attend.  I intend for the meeting to give some students the opportunity to make test corrections if necessary.  I hope to see all of you at these meetings.

Students,

I do have a couple of Zoom meetings this morning, so I cannot open up the office hours Zoom link as early as I usually do.  Today, I will open up my “open office hours” Zoom link from 9:30am to 11:00am.  I will be having “open office hours” tomorrow from 8:15am to 10:30am.  I encourage you come to open office hours today if you need help preparing for the Topic 4 Unit Test, making test corrections if you have already taken the unit test, or making up any missing assignments, tests, or quizzes.  Remember that Friday is the last day of the semester, and tomorrow is the last day that I will accept any late work.

For the Algebra 1 students, I have posted an answer key for the review assignment (RL27) in Schoology.  I also plan to make videos to explain each of these problems and post the videos on Schoology as well.

Today is “B” day, so we will have Zoom meetings for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours.  For each of these classes, we will be taking our Topic 4 Unit Assessment.  It is very important that you attend these meetings and log in on time.

I look forward to seeing all of you at office hours, or at our next Zoom meeting!

Daily Blog for 1/19/2021

Students,

This is our last week of the first semester.  I want to remind everyone that today is “A” day according to the schedule, so we will have scheduled Zoom meetings for 1st Hour at 12:00pm, 2nd Hour at 1:05pm, and 3rd Hour at 2:10pm.  Tomorrow we will have Zoom meetings for 4th, 5th, and 6th Hours in the afternoon.  Please do not be late for your scheduled Zoom meeting this week.

We will also take our last unit test (Summative Grade) this week.  The Topic 4 Unit Test for Geometry will take place today for 1st and 2nd Hours, and tomorrow for 4th and 6th Hours.  This test will cover sections 4-1 (Congruence), 4-2 (Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles), 4-3 (SAS and SSS). and 4-4 (ASA and AAS).  I encourage you to go back into your interactive student edition books in Envision and write out all of the necessary definitions, theorems, and postulates.  You can also write down example problems.  Your softcover workbook could be very helpful to you.

I highly encourage you to attend my “open office hours” Zoom session today or tomorrow from 8:15am to 10:30am.  I can help you with anything related to this test.  I can especially help you on the review assignment (RL26).  Most of you still have to complete this review assignment.  Every problem on this assignment has been assigned on a previous assignment from this unit.  I encourage you go back and look at the earlier assignments from this unit as well as using the “Homework Help” button at the top right of the screen for each problem.  It is very important that you complete this review assignment before you take your test.

This is also your last chance to make up any missing work that you may have for my class!  Honestly, the school arranged for last Friday (1/15/21) to be the last day to accept late work.  However, I will still accept some of these missing assignments, tests, and quizzes through Thursday (1/21/21) of this week.  You must have everything submitted by Thursday evening!  I will not accept it after that.  Please check Student Connect to see what you are missing.  This is also another very good reason for you to come to office hours, so that we can see exactly what you need to complete.

I hope that all of you do well on this last test and finish the semester strong!  I look forward to seeing all of you later today or tomorrow!

Mr. Reddeman
